Hi,
This will come in handy for building yards:

Do a search on the DLS for CS_Yard and you should find it, CS_Yard Template 1 (kuid:37522:9972), helps a lot getting everything looking right.

Thanks, but I meant an entire yard! As in, where lights go and how they work, everything about industries, stations, water towers, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc...

The templates will give you the beginning of the yard, where to place you tracks, so build from there, that's what I do, imagination its called, reason why I play Trainz.
Go to my website and take a look at the screenshots there, some were taken in Surveyor of a few yards, the layout is undergoing an a major reconstruction so its not finished yet.

And I can't resist... how are getting it to where when you click that button on the left, the frame scrolls out a frame with a bunch of links scrolls in to replace it? :udrool::mop:
It's a script. Right click in the frame and view "frame source"

Most of the available yard templates aren't exactly correct for building a railyard, German style. As for signals, there are quite a few types that were used depending on era and region. It would also make a difference if you were building a "normal" yard, or one with a hump for automatic wagon sorting. If you want to see a good example of a yard (aside from Nuernberg of course), look up Maschen in Google Earth. Its the biggest shunting yard in Germany and I believe the second biggest in Europe.

It's probably U.S. specific, but much of it will be universal to moving cars around.

Here's a great one.
Browse to [Englis] / German Railways / Schaaltekeningen (not much English the last one).
Then select 'Dresden Friedrichstadt' Or 'Kassel Rbf' for a big one.
But if you think of modelling one in Trainz, select 'Limburg' or 'Dillenburg' for minor hubs. Might be more reasonable. I for myself am doing Treysa which still is a big project to model single handed.

By remarkable coincidence I'm going to Limburg tomorrow, while I'm there I'll take lots of pictures. I also have a few yard shots from a recent trip to Bw Koblenz-Luetzel.
Looking north, on the right is the DB's electric loco museum.
Same view, with 3X zoom, on the far right is the DB's E 50 091, one of two locomotives of its class left in existence
The hump, located on the south side of the yard
A shot take over a wall south of the hump
The most used shunter for the yard, the class 294, 363's are also used.
