Can someone help me, please, with a map or a handmade sketch of the old Colorado and Southern route between Georgetown and Georgetown Loop. I tried this way to keep me at maximum 4% grade, but I am not sure this was the original solution.

However, this is not sufficient. If I place the tracks along the South Clear Creek, the grade is still over 4 percent.

I think, probably the railroad to the Georgetown loop was on the eastern side of the city, and the Georgetown depot was on a separate branch. Someone probably can confirm or negate this.

Thanks for the suggestion. However I searched in the area of google books and I didn't find the information I need about the placement of railroad and railway depot in the perimeter of Georgetown.

I have searched in Georgetown topographic map from
http://libremap.org/data/state/colorado/drg/
and also in Google Earth. Many old photos of Georgetown are also available on the web. However, they didn't offer me the information I am searching for. What I need is a fragment of an old topographic map of Georgetown (or a sketch after it), from a period when the railroad was there.
What I can deduce from what I have now is something like this:

The most likely source for your information would be on older USGS (United States Geological Survey) maps.

You might try a Google search something like "Historic USGS maps Colorado" or variations on that theme. A number of universities have digital versions of these historic maps dating as far back as the last quarter of the 19th century available on line. The larger scales were generally accurate in major track placement, but USGS wasn't in the business of making track diagrams so some of the small details have to be taken with a grain of salt.

What you are looking for are the old Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps. These give great detail down to the street level. Here is one link to a site with many more links:

Hi, What is the status of this route, and where can the DEM be found ?

A friend is interested in making a Georgetown Loop, Silver Plume, Back Hawk, Golden to Denver route ... what RR line (name) route would that have been named when a RR existed there, connecting all those places ?

Has anyone ever done this line, or created any portion of this route in Trainz ?

I have Transdem, so I could make a DEM, but if there is one out there, it would be silly to create a redundant DEM.

Also with the Georgetown Loop RR, I wonder if someone has a WIP or finished route ?

How is your route coming along ?

For some reason I was thinking I have a Georgetown Loop route I downloaded from somewhere for Trainz, but I'm at work now, so I can't look. If I have it I'll see if I can tell where it came from.

This old layout of mine is just for Georgetown area and is a 1/2 scaled map. I've broke my work to this layout some time ago and I haven't resumed it yet.

I do believe that it is the Colorado & Southern / CB&Q. It's either that or its the DSP&P RR. My memory is fuzzy with those lines up in the northern part of the state. The one to contact is Will (here on the forums: KLINGER). He works at the loop and also at the museum in Golden. He should be able to help with your questions and with the OP's questions too.
