Generating Terrain-PLEASE HELP

Can anyone help me find a good tutorial for Microdem And HOG that will work with TS12

No different to using it with any other version of Trainz.
Other than the tutorial at http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry....rrainGeneration/Computer-generatedTerrain.htm which I assume you are using, there are no new tutorials I know of.

Just remember if you have the latest version of microdem you do not have to convert from feet to metres now as the default is metres, if you do you get a flat DEM.

If the problem is ridges on the terrain then create a blank board save it and merge your new dem based route in surveyor with it, then save, does not need to touch just be there.
If you have already opened it in surveyor and saved it this will not work, has to be the first thing you do, so you need to start from scratch with a new route and copy the mapfile.gnd into it again.

the Trainz fan site mentioned is the one used.Problem-the tutorial is for 04 and I do not get the directories in TS12 called for.It needs to be DUMBED Down for me.THANKKS for whatever help you can give.I will try it!!!!:'(

OK, I'm with you, the main difference is what you do with the mapfile.gnd after you have created it with Hog.

Go into surveyor, create a one board blank route, save it. exit the game, find your new route in content manager , right click on it, open for edit with explorer, copy the mapfile.gnd into the folder you have open overwriting the one that is there, then close explorer and commit.
The Hog files I just dragged and dropped the folders onto content manager in 2010 and imported them to TS12. Doing the same in TS12 should work.

Thanks for the reply-I am having PROBLEM with microdem&HOG-I know it is me-I need a TS12 updated version of how to generate terrain for DUMMIES-THANKS for the advice and patience

I get to where it is ALL TIGER-it is not there-I can get map w/o tiger and save I convert to tga MAYBE-Nothing is really according to the TUTORIAL-I need an TS12 UPDATED step by step HELP-I am fresh retired and doing for hobby.If it gets to flustrateing it take the fun out-THANKS

I'm not sure there is a free version any more. Adobe got bought out by Corel (or the other way around - I don't remember) so the free version went away.

You might Google for some sort of free image processing software that does layering.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE TO GET A GOOD FREE DEM SELECTION-GIS IS REALLY LIMITED-YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN GREAT-WHEN YOU HAVE THE DEM OF AN AREA IT MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE
