yeh game looks like total flop and i will have to send it back shame as it looks really good ,,but its just problems after problems ,,even with my brand new pc

For the record

Specs of my machine;
XP Pro SP3
Intel Core2 duo @ 2.99Ghz
2 GB RAM
Nvidea GeForce 8600 GTS

As you can see, it is the minimum recommended. By adjusting settings, the program runs acceptably.

Video card settings;
Anisotropic filtering : Application controlled
Antialiasing - Gamma correction : On
Antialiasing - mode : Application controlled
Antialiasing - Transparency : Multisampling
Maximum pre-rendered frames : 8
Multiple display/mixed GPU accelleration : Multiple display performance mode
Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization : Off
Texture filtering - negative LOD bias : Allow
Texture filtering - Quality : Performance
Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization : On
Threaded optimization : Auto
Triple buffering : Off
Vertical sync : Use the 3D application setting

Display settings in Trainz;
Mode : DirectX
Display resolution : 1920 X 1080
Bit depth : 32
Fullscreen : (check)
Aspect ratio : Autodetect
Antialias mode : off

It took me a few days to find this "sweet spot" by changing one setting at a time and re-launching the program, first changing the program settings, then the display settings.
But then again, I'm one of those throwback people who believes it's normal to put in a little effort into something I find worthwhile. Humanity hasn't made it this far by giving up just because the answers don't effortlessly reveal themselves. If we do not divest ourselves of this notion, we won't progress much further.

Accessability may vary.

It may be different for Windows 7, but in XP I right-click the desktop, and my "NVIDIA control panel" is listed right above "New >"

You DO have a supplemental video card, right? Not just the one embedded in the motherboard?

when i right click i dont get properties at all infact nothing comes up with video card i know its windows 7 64 bit and i bought graphics card worth 300 quid so i could run flight simulator x the most powerful interface to date and it runs that fine ...still dont know where to find video card all i know that it is good enough

Knowing which make of card would help ! Look in the systray (bottom right hand corner where the clock is) and look for a red ATi or green eye shaped icon. If neither is showing click on the arrow head to show hidden icons. Clicking on the ATi or green 'eye' icon should open the graphics control panel. If there is no mention of the graphics card or properties in the right click menu form the desktop then I would guess that you have an ATi based graphics card so you may see 'Catalyst Control Centre' in the list instead. If you have an nVidia card then there is likely to be an entry called nView

Hang on...

Hang on, I am starting my new laptop up running W7. I have 2010 on it (and 2004) but I always run as Admin. I have done nothing other than install these progs.
Started up fine, selected Harbour View (or whatever it's called) Quick Drive. Seems to be loading....
Selected DCC Mode... Doesn't seem to be any trains on it, so coming out to put one on....
Harbour Master in Edit Route. Created HM coal... saved out (it seems) okay.
Back to Quick Drive and yep, there's the route and train I put in. It's running, but jerkily, but I remember seeing a scan starting as I went into 2010 so if that's also running then it's doing okay..
Dropped the details levels a bit, they were maxed out, so down to half. Runs better.
Saved out fine...

Apart from the jerkiness 2010 worked as it should. I have done nothing other than install 2010 on this Acer Aspire. It was a top model mind, so maybe that has something to do with it, but I have no idea what the specs are. Not even if it has an added graphics cards because I bought it to work in gmax, not Trainz. I have to 2 programs on it so I can test assets as they are created. This is the first time I have run 2010 on the Aspire.

So it puzzles me why you are having so many problems. Did 2010 install okay? It takes quite a while so much patience is needed, you must let the install go at it's own speed and complete right through.
The same with upgrades (I have not upgraded this version of '10', it's out the box as far as I can remember, but they do take a looooong time and there's nothing you can do about that other than let the PC do it's thing.

I suggest you check the in-game specs. I found them all maxed out and had to reduce them quite a lot which helped.

Angela

PS: Scan has just finished so 2010 ran while a scan was running and that is often the kiss of death...

Same problem here cannot save. Always freezes computer. My system passed all requirment checks.. So yes it had better run right out of the box.... but it does not... :n:

look mate if you where sitting here you would have steam coming out ya ears and that answer is not helpfull at all ,,,ive tried downloading all patches and all i get is error error just want to install and play ..feels like im working for nasa the things t you have to do just to play ,,please be a bit more patient and give me more helpfull answers ,,its ok for you as you know what your doing ..i just got this game yesterday

Hi,

Can I suggest you start over again.
Delete TS2010EE from your add/remove programs.
Then re-install TS2010EE and follow the on screen instructions.
When finished allow a couple of minutes here to allow an internal program in TS2010EE ( TADDaemon ) to put the game in order.
After a couple of minutes double click on the TS2010EE short cut and wait for it to open the main interface, its a front view of a Steam loco with a number of selection to chose from.
All you want from this interface is the build number which is located in the bottom right of this interface it might have 42203 or some other number.
This number will enable you to get the correct patch from the forum where patches are listed for build numbers.
The current build number is 43434 and this is your target, to get the right patch to get you to 43434.
Down load the patch you need and and install following the on screen instructions, you may have to tell the patch where your TS2010EE is located if different from C drive.
The patching can take some time to install, you may be looking at 2 to 3 hours depending on your computer spec's.
Once patched then you can run the TS2010EE program.
Remember that when you now run TS2010EE for the first time you will again have "TADDaemon" checking the installation again to ensure your installation is correctly set up.
When "TADDaemon" has finished checking, listing errors which it corrects, wait again a few minutes to allow this internal program to finish its house work.
Now you should be able to run TS2010EE and explore its contents.
If you still have problems come back here.
Regards
Mike

Trainz seems to be hardware-dependent or software-dependent sometimes, since what runs on one system may not run or may run badly on another.

Have you made sure you have all the appropriate Trainz Patches? Also, post your system specs so we can check them (if they are already available, post a link to them). The 'freeze' issue seems to be particularly happening on TS2010 SP3.

41622

Mine is 41622, so way out of date. I have searched the DS and the Auran shop for upgrades but cannot find any. Can somebody tell me where Auran are hiding these please?

Tip:
Trainz defaults to OpenGL - try switching to DirectX.

I was getting single digit FPS on a fairly basic board with some track and textures (textures seemed to be the big FPS killer). I switched to DX and instantly framerates shot up to well over 150 and haven't dropped below 60fps on my system.
