Hi John,
We go through life taking every thing for granted and judging people as we see them not knowing how they really are, its only when they fall ill that we then awake to reality.

Thanks for asking ZuluKing. It's a good opportunity for me to do an update, and timely also!
I went to Townsville by bus on Tuesday to visit the surgeon who will be performing my quadruple bypass operation. The date for the operation is set for mid December, but the actual day is still unknown. I'll then be going to Melbourne to stay with friends during a standard six week rehabilitation program. I don't have anyone to look after me here in Cairns.
Health wise I'm not to brilliant. I've had several Angina attacks and some rather strange reactions to the medication in the past few weeks, but I've managed to keep myself out of hospital. I feel very tired, mainly because I can't sleep at night. That's another side affect I understand. Unfortunately I have no interest or desire to take on any project I can't complete within 30 minutes, so my chances of getting out another TCN this year are very slim indeed.
Now that I know roughly when I'm due for the operation, I will write to all our subscribers and contact the rest of the TCN team. Right now I think the best thing to do is let the magazine slide for the remainder of the year and I'll see how I shape up in January when I return from rehab. I should be well enough to attack the magazine after the operation, but I won't have my computer with me in Melbourne and I really do have other things I want to do.

Sorry I missed this posting first time around but I am supposed to be retired but feel like I have been working full time over the last few weeks.
What I would like to say John is that the wife of a friend of mine had a severe heart attack a month or so ago and had to undergo the same operation as you are facing.
She has come through the operation well and now the prognosis is that she should make a good recovery to fitness over the coming weeks. They visited us down here in Somerset last week and we all went for a short walk along our sea front (the first time she had been away from Bristol or her home since being taken ill).
what surprised us is how much her attitude to life has changed and that what was important to her no longer is, whereas the prospect of having more time and freedom seemed to have very much risen in her appreciation of future.
So John concentrate on regaining health and fitness which may change your views on what is important and what is not. Should you decide to return to the Trainz and the community in the future then it and we will all be here and only too happy to welcome you back.

Usually after a tripple or quad by-pass, patients are asked to take six months of rest and keep away from anything that may cause unwanted stress or anxiety, thus he must have six months time for himself and his family.
Hopefully, it looks like he is doing exactly what he was told by medical staff, and as long as he follows there orders, then when he does return, he will feel like a new kid again...

I recently heard from John. He weathered the recent storm and the operation and is resting in Melbourne. He is unsure at this time as to when and if he will resume the magazine.
Thanks for the update skidmark22. So pleased to hear he is over that hurdle and let's hope his recuperation goes well. The magazine is the least of our worries, his health is more important than any magazine.
