Future of the Trainz Community News

Johnk

Boarded October 2001
Hi folks.

I've been diagnosed with heart disease and I'm booked in for triple or quadruple bypass surgery in November. I have no idea exactly when, but I'll have a better idea after meeting the surgeon on Nov 2nd.

After spending a total of ten days last month in hospital, publication of the August edition of the Trainz Community News was considerably delayed. Despite Alberte's eight page European contribution and all his wonderful graphics, over 75% of that edition was still produced by me between visits to the hospital. Fortunately Alberte had a "Proof" copy which he eventually published in my absense. Had that not been the case, the August edition would have been delayed even further.

Alberte has offered to produce most of the next (September) edition, but like myself, he has other more important things to contend with. We're still not sure when the September edition will be released, but it will probably cover September and October (see below).

The bottom line is that I'm still a major thrust behind the TCN, but Alberte is really helping by supplying the European content and all the new graphics which are giving the magazine a nice lift. As my contribution will depend entirely on my health, there can be no guarantee of continuity over the coming months.

During a round table conference between Alberte, Ian Woodmore and myself, it was agreed to make the TCN bi-monthly for the time being. The next issue will cover September-October, but we're still not sure exactly when it will be released.

The issue after that will cover November-December, but the production date will very much depend on the timing of my heart surgery and subsequent recovery.

Thanks for putting up with our problems, but don't forget that your feedback is important. Without it, we may be producing a magazine nobody wants!

Regards to all.

John

I think you would find John folk's are more concerned for your health and well being then any inconveniance suffered because your great mag was a bit late lol.You just concentrate on getting over this hurdle and nothing else.
Take care mate.
Cheers Mick.

I agree with Mick, your health is far more important than the magazine and I hope everything works out just fine.

Many thanks to Alberte for helping to fill in the gap even though he has other matters to attend too. I am sure you have left the magazine in great hands with both Alberte and Ian and need not worry about anything while you deal with your own health issues.

Best wishes John and we hope to see you celebrating Christmas with all the joy the session brings and in very good health.

John,

your health comes first mate.

TCN is a great publication and a very informative read.

My thanks to all involved in it's creation.

All the best,
Mike.

I agree with all of the above and would like to say how much I have both enjoyed and profited from TCN.

Best wishes.

the same here, even though I never read the magazine,I agree with the others, your health and well being are very important to us and I hope you will be alright!

John,

You take care of you. The magazine will survive. It is too valuable of a resource not to. Thanks to the magazine, I am now able to fix many defective assets with a few simple keystrokes.

Focus on getting your health back.

Hey Johnk,

The Magazine can wait and will live on, your health is the most important thing in your life, I know, I get reminded all the time by my family after I was diagnosed with Cardio Vascular Disease, I must take it easy and eat boring foods, to live a longer life, something you will probably be told by your specialist after the operation...

Take care Jonhk, and do what the doctor says, rest up and enjoy life...

May all Trainzers wish you well with the surgery and your health. I'm quite confident that the Mag will continue as planned after your operation and recovery. You just do not worry about us waiting a bit longer for an edition of the TCN.

Get well and listen to your doctor - he knows best. And above all - stay in touch with your Creator.

Regards

John,

I agree with the others here. Your health is way more important that the magazine. Take it easy and don't worry.

Hi Folks,

Thanks for your kind words. I had a long meeting with my Hospital doctor yesterday and the subject of enthusiasm, or the lack thereof was high on the agenda. He told me that the course of pills I'm on are probably the culprits and there is little they can do about it.

Other than that I feel fine! I'm actually looking forward to the operation because it just may allow me to do a few things I've previously been unable to do.

We'll just press on with the TCN between medical issues and hopefully we'll have something out for you shortly.

Once again for your kind thoughts.

John

Funny thing happened on the way to my angioplasty...

Had a cardiac stress test back in 2006, went like this;

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=188380&l=08c72281af&id=100001028687859

After the MRI scan the cardiologist said, "You have 50% blockage on one side and 100% blockage on the other side, but I'm not worried about it." I said, "Doc, if it was YOUR heart instead of MINE, I wouldn't be worried about it either!" :hehe:

God be with you, get well soon.
