Ok,

Does anyone have the solution to the following problem: Maybe it's been answered prior in the forums but I cannot find it.
I bought the downloadable version of Trainz 2009 just before Christmas 2008 and it worked great....CM2 and everything else.
Just after Christmas, I had a major meltdown of my computer and ended up having to reformat my hard disk and start all over again installing all of my hardware and games. I then got my boxed version of Trainz 2009. After reinstalling Trainz 2009 (before the patches were released) my CM2 would not work. i.e will not download anything. No download speed, nothing. Just sits idle and looks pretty. I have two FC tickets, one expires in 9/09 and the other in 12/09. I have been enjoying ALL of the Trainz games from their inception and have never experienced this type of problem. I have tried EVERYTHING!!! i.e. turning off my windows firewall, which by the way has never been an issue, installing the two patches when they were released, turning off my anti-virus, which also has never been an issue in the past, gone to help desk, which was less than helpful. So here I am, hoping someone out there has had the same problem and can help. Oh, by the way, I also reinstalled Trainz 2006 and have the same problem with CM as well.
I have been setting up my passwords, registering serial numbers etc., since I started playing the Trainz games, and know how to do this properly.
My computer is a Dell duo core quad technology processor, Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, (yes I have even tried to get the games to work in Administrator Mode) dual video cards (SLI) 4mb of RAM blah blah. My internet connection is Sprint wireless. (by the way I really don't live in Afghanistan, that was just a mess up on my part when I first registered)
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Korey,

Trainz doesn't use SLI, or doesn't handle it well. Check your firewall settings if you are having problems connecting to the DLS. When you setup the connection properties in CM2, check that you are using Internet settings instead of Proxy.

You need to install the program and run the program as Administrator in order for it to download assets and save properly.

Make sure your drivers are up-to-date.

I'm running Vista Ulitimate 64-bit on a machine similar to yours without any problesms so I think the problem is more with settings than Trainz its self.

Hope this helps,

John

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I suspected that it was more of a machine issue rather than the game itself since it worked well at one time.
I will give them a try and see if they cure my problems.

Thanks Again

FCTs don't have an expiry date until you activate them. Have you got two activated tickets? If so, you have wasted one of them because they do not work sequentially, one after the other. A strange arrangement but that is how it is arranged. Never activate a ticket until the current one is nearly expiring.
