Frustrated at trying for hours

I am obviously now going to have a permanent problem with my build of the whole of the Northern ireland Railways project since I imported it into 09.

With tens of miles of a missing embankment slowing put in on both sides that will take ages to put back but I am not going to spend as much time as I did before. in some places where space permits I will just raise the ground whilst embanking at other places.

The other oddity are the missing platforms. As I am essentially the same ones in some stations they have appeared and in others vanished leaving the fencing, lights all in the air so to speak. I also have thos ghastly narrow sets of double white broken lines. Where there are 2 lots of missing items in thes vanished items (still with splines) it is slightly worse. They cannot be hidden as they won't damn well delete. My only passing saving grace is on the lines where i just have track down and nothing else at least they haven't been effected but the 3 routes - Larne, Bangor and Border Lines are all with these lines. They also appear where housing has vanished.

It is a big hold back getting on with things and time consuming putting platforms back in and houses. I also lost a great couple of modern buildings that were ideal for the new modern stations at Bangor, County Down and the ultra modern Newry. Unofrtunately I don't know what they were called and will have to stick something ina amongst the mass of wite broken lins that replace much of that station.

I feel your pain, Bobby. :(

The white lines are where the spline objects were such as the track. See if you can replace them, or find out what you used previously. There's possibility that your assets have become corrupted when your system crashed. I've gone through a massive asset replacement, updating and downloading stuff that I had there before. This has helped somewhat, but my dead sections of my route are still dead like a blight of some kind came along and wiped the ground clean.

I have since deleted that section and plan to rebuild. This in a way gives me a chance to use some DEM files for my area which I plan to work on as soon as my replacement TransDem program is sent to me by Roland. My download got trashed along with everything else before I had a chance to really learn how to use the program!

Sorry you are getting some frustration there John.

I have realised that I had overlooked had been using 2 platforms by the same maker. They are similar apart from the lines along the coloured passenger safety lines hence I have some stations with no platforms. As for the track there seems to be no problems at all with that as things run fine. Where I had embankments placed separately on oth sides those infamous double brone lines appear. Likewise where the other platforms used to be. Losing what are just some house rows on streets isn't so much of a nuisance.

What is of special challenge in trying to keep this alive is that trying to put platforms back in on top of vanished ones and splines and white lines that can't be removed. It means I have to put in splines and need to drag them off the dead splines and try and bend back. Along with me having to zoom back and forth while doing this is time consuming. I do still get a degree of the blue nothingness redrawing although marginally improved. Worse are missing platforms on bends or above ground level with the dead splines below. It is taking hours to do all the corrections and has made me wonder about continuing. I simply cannot consider going back and starting from scratch as there is too much. My only consolations are that only the 3 lines have been working on are effected by these horrors. The other 3 are simple skeletal with track and no scenery.

In some places on the long run from Belfast -Border I have where space allows just raised the ground and in others put embankments back on both sides. White lines of course.

If I was to continue which I am doing even slower doing now due to the mountain to climb I then have to make a decision. This is if I finish the Northern Ireland Rlys to keep it to myself ior make it available for others with the lines issue showing in many parts. Meantime wilse during this week how things go before deciding.

Try delete missing assets, from the surveyor menu, that may get rid of the missing splines / white lines?

Hello Malc,

Excuse the ignorance but when I am in Surveyor mode how practically do I do 'deleting missing assets'?

Bobby

This is found under Surveyor on the menu bar. Delete Missing Assets. You click on that, and you're prompted with an Are you sure you want to do that? type of question.

Did that and and had to almost look twice at the screen - no multitudes of those dashed white lines! I spent ages at one station trying to get platforms back in and was a nightmare and looked at the list of other stations. Okay I have miles and miles of embankments due to previous probs to put backas well but an awful lot easier due to those splines and lines getting the heave-ho. I still have the zooming in and out when sorting stuff in built up bits but this is a tremendous help that the utter frustration of trying to lay new splines on the "dead" ones. The helpt and advice has been much appreciated. Once I work my way round the stations and embankments which will take me a couple of days off and on means I can continue with this project.

It has meant a lot to me as I spent may happy holidays over there and took boys camps there as well. Felt that it was overdue to get something from the emerald isle and may use this boost to use it as an excuse to hop a ferry over to Belfast for the recceI was tempted to do!

Again my thanks and a great sense of relief in a damp Glasgow (!).

Bobby
