What are friend requests and what is their purpose?

They don't really do anything. It's more of an attempt at social networking. Kind of.

Hear, Hear. My social networking is done face to face with people I actually want to talk to......LOL

I use Friends here to regulate who can PM me & who cannot. You can set your PM settings to only allow people on your friends list to contact you; doing so (for me at least) drastically cuts back on the number of people PMing me with demands of content & asking questions I've answered dozen of times in posts. I think of it more like a contact list then a friends list.

Yea ken just sent friend request. Like perrock said thow, its pointless unless we're working on something together like my up coming route for example!
