French Signals

Does anyone know of a site which explains in detail how French signalling works. I am building my first french layout and I can only use the very basic signals and would like to know more.

thanks for that, thats great. However, when I try to use the French signals in trainz, I can't seem to get the semaphore signals to work properly. Is there anything specifically related to Trainz, (in English) that can help?

I know this is not strictly on topic, but I wonder how long and how much postage it would have taken an Australian to find a serious treatment of French railway signalling in pre-Internet days. Just amazed at how far we have come in one generation.
