My frame rates are really slow. My laptop can play high end games on high settings. My laptop specs are

Processor* Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM processorOperating System* Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), SP1Graphics Engine* Mobile Intel® HD GraphicsGraphics Memory* 64MB-1696MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory[h=4]Memory and Storage[/h]Memory* 6GB DDR3 1333MHz memoryHard Drive* 640GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial ATA)Optical Drive* DVD-SuperMulti (+/-R double layer) with Labelflash™ drive

That graphics card will not play Trainz well at all - it is well known that Intel graphics cards are no good for playing Trainz, as they don't support OpenGL well enough, if at all.

You can also try turning the antialiasing off, as well as decrease the draw distance in game. That should help some but I would take Shane's advice and get a different processor and graphics card setup.

Ok thats what I though. I know Im not aloud to talk about other train simulators but why does railworks run smooth. Also I did lower the draw distance and it did help a bit.

It's the arguments between other simulators that the mods don't like. Like Shane said, that could be due to your graphics card and processor combo. I tried railworks and it didn't run hardly as fast as Trainz did. For me Trainz outstrips all other simulators. Sometimes it's a quirk of technology that one runs good and the other doesn't on one's computer. Mine is no gaming computer, but Trainz runs flawlessly on mine. Railworks stutters, and who knows what MSTS would do.

I've seen Railworks stutter on a I7 machine with a $300 graphics card.
