Frame Friendly Conifers

A fledging route I'm working on runs through a dense forest area. While good results can be achieved on the distant hills with textures, out to about 1000 - 1500 km from the trackside needs to be populated with actual trees.

The dilemna is finding tree types that display okay in TS2009/10 without artefacts or ghosting but at the same time don't hit the frame rate. I've tried trees from the "Perfect" range but unfortunately these killed the frame rate with 3000 - 4000 trees on a tile (they are also a bit on the short side to represent an old established forest).

So any recommendations gratefully received from fellow mountain/wilderness Trainzers.

Have a look at the range by TNM, they might fit the bill. They are on the DLS.

I think he did quite a bit of performance testing with them, there is a thread on here from about a year ago.

Thanks for that - they look like they will do the trick. Being a fuller shape, fewer will be required to get the forest effect too. The Perfect and JVC etc. trees are brilliant but as I found, frame rate killers when placed in large quantities.
