FPS LIMIT?!

Ok, so I just got a new PC that can actually play trainz. :P Now I have been using FRAPS today to capture some screenshots, and USUALLY it seems that the FPS is limited at 60, as I never get higher than that. However, I fired up the game and immediatly started seeing 1000+ FPS in the menus, and 300+ In-Game. After a couple minutes off worrying my ass off, I quit the game a saw that my GPU had already started overheating. My real concern here is that I only noticed the extreme FPS because I was running FRAPS. Had I not been, I would have been none the wiser, and probably spent a good hour in-game. As a precaution, I will probobly be playing with FRAPS on from now on, just to be safe, but is this a know issue, Unlimited FPS? Because had I been unaware of the issue while playing, I very well could have been out 200 bucks for my video card.

EDIT: Just tried playing again, and it would seem that I am now getting these very high FPS all the time. Any ides?

You can limit the FPS. I limit mine to 30 and, yes, you can limit to 60. There is more than one way to do this. I go to options from the startup menu, then Advanced Options. I set Vertical Sync to Half Rate and Frequency to 60.
If you chose Full Rate you will get 60 fps.

In OpenGL FRAPS will lock at 60 fps in TS9 and TS10, in DX you can get over 2000 fps at a menu as the menu is just one frame sent over and over.
