Found something that is pretty amazing...

The other day I was on youtube and stumbled across an old 8mm silent video of someone's trip across the US by train in the 1950s. The video has everything- the Columbia Gorge before it was dammed, a ride in a caboose on a freight train, UP steam in the Washatch Range, and shots from the vestibule of the California Zephyr. After watching the entire ten minute video, I noticed a link in the description to a Flickr page with hundreds of train photos taken by this guy and his dad over the years. He also has many interesting silent video clips of many old steam and diesel trains from across the country. I am not sure if anyone has heard of this before, but I figured there would be a few people out there that would get some enjoyment out of this. Anyway, here is the link:

and here is the link to the youtube video mentioned above.

Hope someone finds this interesting!

Spanderson,

A big thank you for sharing the links. I've got them bookmarked and plan to spend some time with them.

Thanks for sharing. I recognize alot of the names in those photos (Place names), and I've ridden behind the remaining Hillcrest Climax, forget which one it is. Currently resides out in Morton WA under the care of the Rainier Scenic RR, where its affectionately known as "Old Humpy".
