Forum Speed Fixed?

Get over it
I think they finally woke up. It appears as though the forum is now almost flying from screen to screen. Happy times are here again. Hope I haven't spoken too soon.

Spiffy mentioned in another thread they found the problem, so fingers crossed it has been fixed permanently.

I noticed the new speed demon when I logged in tonight.

They fixed the problem, alright. They fed the hamster some extra strong coffee beans. :)

Auran great work things seem to be getting better for you guys. Now whats next on the todo list:hehe:

Yes, it's fast....but at the sacrifice of the member list. I suppose I'd rather have the speed!

One has to wonder though, just how the member list was involved in such a drastic slowdown of the forum in general. The only thing I can come up with is that every time you changed a page, tried to post, or clicked anything, some sort of script scanned through the entire member list to see if you were authorized to do so.

Having said that, I am wondering if there is any danger of an unauthorized access to boards/posts.

I also note that my access to the DLS (using the CM for each version of the game) is still being throttled down to a third of what it used to be despite my having a FCT since forever. I used to get 350+Kbs and now rarely go over 125Kbps.

Great the speed is back, but unfortunately the old problem with un-read posts being marked as read is also back :( During the slow-down I could use the "New Posts" feature - this isn't reliable anymore.

Hmmmm, the birthdays thing can be a bit of a problem as hackers scan sites to glean bits if information. Birthdays are usually an essential tid-bit to add to your dossier which will eventually contain sufficient info to steal your identity.

Agreed, which is why I don't list mine. Of course, there's always some knucklehead with inside information that "outs" you anyway...

Okay. Now that we have our Forum speed back up, perhaps someone might turn to the DLS and kick that into gear. I really don't appreciate speeds in the 50-100Kbps range when just a few months ago I was getting 320-350Kbps.
