Forum now very difficult to read

Let's hope, as Zec says, this is a WIP. Right now the light text on the white background is making my eyeballs twitch, thus giving me an awful headache! I'll hold off visiting the forums except to check periodically to see if this problem is resolved. :(

It's in the N3V tradition......release it even though it doesn't work and then do three or four fixes to get it mostly right, but never completely right.

I take exception to this comment as it implies N3V Auran can never do anything right.

Perfection and human-beings are by default, mutually exclusive...

One of the symptoms of Asperger's syndrome is the lack of ability to accept change.

One of the symptoms of Asperger's syndrome is the lack of ability to accept change.

It also ignores the fact that vBulletin isn't anything N3V have created, and this is just the default theme for that. Any flaws in the theme or forum software are NOT N3Vs doing - although there are other themes and the truly ridiculous could argue that they should have spent weeks perfecting a theme to mimic the old style (which was just one of the vBulletin 3.x default themes anyway)

I've got that syndrome, and even though it is taking time to get used to it, it is quite a large change to me.

I have previously posted a temporary fix, that allows changing the type font, type color, and webpage background color ... so changing the colors on your webpage are easy to do ... mine are no longer blinding ... using a Dark Gray background, with bold pitch black Arial Black type ... which is very pleasing to the eye.

If anyone wants to change the color of the forum webpage, you can PM me for details on how to do it.

My only comments are that it looks different in some ways and I see no real improvement visually or in the navigation. If the change has to do with the old software no longer being supported so the change was in favor of a new "improved" software, then there you go. New or Improved often does to result in better in the opinions of many users.

But if you go by Zec's word you had better go to the doctor like he said I should do because I get a headache from looking at it..... Guess Auran is run by doctors now.:hehe:

There is something on that. I'm becoming to be tired and i'm fed up with all this a half working features and products.

I cant remember what the old forum looked like possibly more blue, I seem to remember a previous one being red ... it seems that if they made the type bigger font, more bold, and pitch black it would be better.

Seing that Firefox users can change the background colors and type ... and IE8 users can adjust the Tools/InternetOptions/Color/Font/Accessbility, and also Personalize/WindowsAppearance/Advanced ... one can come up with subtle changes to counteract the blinding white, and gray type, and pale blue type.

Why is this webpage so much brighter than the previous forum ?

Still we shouldn't all have to make customization of webpage colors and type ... especially non-experienced PC users that could mess up their PC settings.

Why new form, what's is wrong with former forum. It was possible to read the text and finding stuff with 'search'. I'm old, this letters are very hard to read for me and i expect that search give the correct results. What's a waste of money for bad working product.

I have always had this complaint with all webpages internet wide, why blinding white, and not a gentle shade of sun shiny, extremely pale yellowish red, like the warm setting on some PC monitors.

Yahoo Mail is a completely blinding white also. So are millions of webpages.

The type definately should be pitch black the entire forum site wide ... no grays, no blues in type fonts

It would be much better to put this money in SP1 patch.

Have some sympathy for your comments and in general I was content with the Forum as was. It had some feel and depth to it and even though I am progressive by nature),doesn't sit well with me much. However, it's fact so I have no choice but to live with it but If it is still to reach a final stage one would have thought it would have been better waiting until done and dusted? No doubt it will gor on us in time and it's cold outside as well!

For FireFox user:

The addon "Color That Site!"
https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/color-that-site/ make it better:

Here’s a sample of the previous Forum colours for comparison purposes which I posted in another thread after a request.

The differences are relatively small in that the old font was just slightly heavier and the background just a few tones darker, but the overall effect was far easier on the eye by a huge margin.

It would be nice to get back to a more restful contrast from source. It shouldn't be necessary to have to adjust monitor contrast for different applications.

That Firefox download add-on really makes things great ... the light gray looks soothing to the eye ... the purple, green, and blue very hard to read ... all black type and in a bold font would look better. A darker gray would also be even more soothing.

I have been playing with Tools/InternetOptions/Color/Font/Accessability and have achived a gray background, with Arial Black and view at 125% ... and it looks acceptable.

But I think I'll switch over to Firefox, and use the Color download ... looks great ! Jofe

=============

Edit: Just downloaded firefox from the authorized Mozilla site ... and the Color download add-on.
