Two screenshots that show the development of a bleak, open remote section of my current layout (Hawthorn Town).
At this point, the trains are climbing hard up a long 1-in-67, and the seven Gresley coaches are all the V2 can manage without slowing (line speed is 55mph). I tried running a Merchant Navy across the hill with 10 pullmans in tow, and it just managed a mere 20mph up the hill.
Also, since this is the "dump anything" thread, here's some pics of the moors on the same journey:
The V2 (pictured above after turning the corner) passes a derelict cottage, taken over by nature.
The V2 proceeds along the embankment, now running level. Increadibly, the valves are lifting, even after climbing almost 30m in a very short distance.
