There are manly forgtion or abaned raill raillods in pa. Here is one. If you are in the town of latrabe pa there are to old raill lines there. The one is at were the mantance for the ns raill road is there is an old line that runs to latrobe steal and end at a crossing.from there the line runs up to the town or ligioner pa in some places you can still see were the track went through from there it heads up to sumerset pa you can see part or the old road bed from the pa turn pike. Another line is if you head stright back from the mantice building there is an old siding at a lumber mill the tracks only go back to an dead road you can still see were the tracks were from there you can still follow the road bed up before the airport. Then after the air port you can still follow the tracks by goeing down by the airportand folling the road into the town of pleasnt unity pa youcan see the old cuts and fills of the raill road. From there thr tracks would have went throgh the town of mamoth pa. Then through the botom of norvelt and then fallow the creek to armbust pa were you can still see some old brige pers there then the line goes into the eastern part of new station pa.The line was used for geting coal out of the mines so that is probly why they were aboned. Then up a little from the old tracks there are some old bride pers. There are manly more lines like this arond.

That was a painful read my friend! Have you consulted any rail atlases to find out what railroad those lines were originally from?

All that I now about the old tracks are that they were all old prr lines.

Kind of sad that they were abanded. The good thing is that the road bed is still intack.

I tell yons what with that you can see the tracks much better than with a regluar map. The olney thing is that you cant see some of the old abanded lines as good as sometimes.

I live close to one of the SW PA railroads that is being abandoned to make way for a flood control project. It is located in a town called Export and also runs through Murrysville to Pitcarin where it joins the main lines. I tried to create the route. Laid the track ok but I became very frustrated trying to get the objects (building & vegetation) correct. Of the thousands of things on the DLS I still had to make compromises that spoiled the reality. I gave up. While it was easy to lay the rail and make the roads, reality eluded me.:(
