Fixing faulty assets

My tools along with Andi06's AssetX can fix all of the problems mentioned in this thread. If you get AssetX, which like any complex program takes a bit of learning, most of the above can be fixed by running trainz-build upgrade scripts available from the AssetX pages of the Trainz Wiki HERE. This is very quick and easy. Shane Turner also has the AssetX adddons on his site (link is below)

With regard to the requirement for shadow meshes, AssetX has a simple option that allows you to add the mesh table shadow data and an invisible mesh (a small inverted square) all in a single click on the menu.

Most assets with pm's are pre TRS2004 and have a lot of differences in the config.txt files which are fixed automatically by the trainz build scripts.

By the way my name is Peter Villaume and my Trainz user ID is just my initials. I write software for Trainz and other things that I publish under the name "PEVSoft Sydney".

My tools are now available from Shane Turner's web site Link to Shanes Site; my own site will disappear soon as it is part of an old dial-up account that I had for some 20 years. My old ISP is ceasing support for dial-up...

Many software sites now have my tools available (without my permission or approval) BUT in many cases my installers have been modified. BE WARNED that downloading from any site other than Shane's may result in your acquiring unwanted software such as viruses or advertising.

Hi Peter,
Is there a tutorial to modify the same config tags in multiple assets, using AssetX please.
Cheers,
Mike

Mike, it can be done.. Andi's AssetX help has a bit on batch processing. Ian Woodmore is the expert on that side of it. His TARDIS scripts are designed for batch mode.
