First Class Ticket download speed

BRClass66

Always needing help
Hi,

My FCT has been running at an average of 30Kbps in CM3.3 for the passed week...once i open CM and start a download it will start at 300Kbps but soon dies down to 30 and less in a few seconds

Anyone else having this problem ?

I think this is a DLS issue because I've seen the same thing. There have been a couple of times when I had to stop the download and restart it to get the speed up again.

John

Well John. doesnt work for me

I think its partly treating me as if i have no FCT,Because its stopped downloading now as i've reached just over the 100MB download today.

And also it jumps to 200Kbps plus with anything lower then 500Kb but anything above or in the MB's it will drop to the 30's.

Helpdesk i think

But thanks for the info John

Are you sure you activated your First Class Ticket?

Good point, Robert. I didn't think of that myself. I didn't have that issue because I have the "Lifer" I got a couple of years ago. There's no worries for me on activation. I downloaded late last night though with no speed issues. So BRClass66 has another possible problem as you've stated.

I think thats the answer to John..

thanks anyway for trying to help me..i'll give it a couple of days see if it comes back first

I had the same problem and put in a helpdesk ticket' Kris Deagle responded with the following (and it worked perfectly)
Please try a quick database repair in Content Manager.

To do this, first remove all items from the downloadsqueue, then go to 'file', and then click on 'quick database repair'. Once therepair has completed, please try downloading again.

Hope it works for you,

Art

I've been complaining about DLS speeds for quite some time now. Mine usually start out at around 45-50KBps or so, but quickly degenerate down to around 15-20KBps. A few months ago (6 or so), I was seeing speeds nearing my "official ISP" download speed of 350-400KBps. As of late, my speed has dropped considerably. "Help" desk complains have fallen on either deaf ears, or I get a response like "we're not messing with it so it must be your end". Why is it, then, that I can go do an official speed-checking site and still get those 350-400KBps speeds?

Something is either wrong or broken.

Bill

@ Art ,Thanks ..Never thought of that....but sadly didn't work...i keep switching Trainz on hoping it will have returned to its normal speed i had before,But with no joy.

@ Bill ,Thats so bad ,I do hope we both have it up and running sooner then later..You sooner i think..as i guess your the same as me...just near impossible to download routes and sessions.

Regards
Brad

Have you got trainz set to be ignored by firewalls , anti virus etc.
Maybe they're choking it by scanning incoming assets.

Hi Fran,

All Firewalls and Anti Virus are all turned off..I dont use them unless i via from Known websites which is very rare.

This computer is only used for Trainz so such programes are not needed as much apart from a Virus check every few weeks or so.

But thanks for another idea

I've had the problem before, cleared now.

Which version of Trainz are you talking about as you have 3 ? I'm presuming TS2010.

Have you checked the speed of your broadband connection ? If not try http://www.speedtest.net/

If that checks out then try this:

Clear the download helper pane in CM.

In CM go to "File" > "Settings" then select the tab that says "Internet".

Blank out the username and password entries, save and shut down CM and Trainz.

In your browser, log on to "Planet Auran" and change your password - you can use the same one if you like. Save this and exit.

Make a cup of tea and watch TV for a while then restart Trainz and CM.

You will be prompted to re enter you username and password.

To be sure run an "Extended Database Repair" - this will take a while, possibly hours depending on your installation size. Leave the PC alone while you are running it.

If this does not work then it's back to the helpdesk I'm afraid.

Good luck !

On top of what itareus has mentioned, I have my internet (in cm) set to no proxy server. Always have had with no issues.

Thanks all for the help but no joy...seems to work like before low items will run at top speed high items slows..i'll send a message to the help desk tomorrow.

At the meantime two good friends in the States and in Europe are getting me the routes and sessions.

Cheers

Download speed is awesome now, Thanks for the heads up on Activating the FCT, wondered what was going on with that after purchasing the FCT and still had such slow downloading.
