Find object function does not work

Hi, when I did a search the closest hit I got was:

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/show...-function-does-not-work&highlight=FIND+OBJECT

there was not a further reply to say if the proposed fix worked.

It did not work for me.

I recently updated to BUILD 81296 but did not have a problem immediately. The problem seemed to be intermittent, after clicking on " find object " several times, about an hour later I suddenly had a find object box on the screen and when I Xed it out I had another and another under it but tonight I can not duplicate this phenomenon and a session has been running for about three hours. I first had the problem while trying to edit a session and I have been dropping out and playing a session to see if it will work in a session but it is not.

Anyone have a suggestion that actually works for them??

Thanks

What Ver of Windows r you using?

Do you have other Programs open when you run Trainz?

Close off your internet, go into Airplane Mode, and see if this problem crops up again.

Also close your Trainz, reboot your machine, stay in Airplane Mode,, Launch Trainz, go to Content Mgr, and view Asset errors, see if something stands out to you that refers to the layout you were working with Surveyor?

I'm just throwing out some ideas, it may yield nothing? But intermittent errors are a stinker to solve sometimes?

Im looking hard on internet to see if I find anything else, you might consider sending a Trouble ticket the Company too?

Respectfully yours,

Had you been switching between full screen and window mode, and changing the size of the window? I've experienced issues with dialog boxes being open but invisible because they are outside the window area. Switching to full screen (alt+enter) makes them appear.

Understand, you need to find the screen resolution size (larger) that will make the Windows smaller. Someone else may have a better idea. I run my Trainz in full window and in smaller windows when i want to run 2 programs side by side on my Laptop for file operations and or working with Excel. I found out that when i run Trainz 12 in full screen, it doesn't like alt-tab commands, it will snap to desktop screen behind Trainz, then immediately back to Trainz. I haven't been able to find work around for this, so just change program properties to leds than full screen when i need to Prgms side by side.

To get full screen. This was told to me and it works. ALT + Enter will toggle between window and full screen as long as it has been set-up in Settings. Using ALT + Tab does return to desktop. Leave a small program open before you start Trainz or if using Aero in Windows, take your time to select Desktop. An open program gives the key combo something to grab onto and not flip back immediately.
The Find box. CTRL + F is the shortcut. The only problem I've found, sometimes the find line will appear filled in properly and other times remain blank.

Thanks for the replys!!!!!

Thanks for the replies. I went over and fired up my Trainz machine to experiment.

I think I am finding an opposite effect on my machine. Recently I have noticed that somehow I am either in full screen or other times not, so I went to settings in the startup box and unchecked fill screen and though I am not running other programs, I have a tool bar at the bottom under my Trainz window and when I am in this state ( non full screen ), my find objects box appears and I can use it.

Thanks; Blue and R3 and Stationmistress, you were a great help!

Awesome, Wild Willy, and to Station Mistress, read your comment on Alt-Tab, and I'll try that, much appreciated.
