Fender849 I heard you convert MSTS to trainz. Well, not to go against cabuse's Comet III project, I would like this. I would like the Comet III Cab car from here: http://www.klwtrainsim.ne1.net/. It will be called Comet III Cab car set or something like that. Please convert it to trainz and enable your PM so I can send you my email.

I have to back up Shane on that one. Not only are you more than likely going to cause problems (fatal errors) when trying to run Trainz but, more importantly, you are setting yourself up for a law suit which you cannot defend unless you have the written permission of the original creator. The fact that the question was asked on a public forum complicates your case even further because now you cannot plead ignorance. Think it through very carefully.

Doing it for your own use only would be perfectly legal (ignoring DMCA issues which aren't relevant here since MSTS items aren't protected by DRM).

However, the moment you ask for someone else to aid you in accomplishing it, you're asking them to distribute the item, which then becomes a copyright violation.

Of course, the ability to be sued has nothing at all to do with whether something is legal or not, especially in the USA.

Hello, Subway125. I do not convert MSTS to Trainz GENERALLY. I have only converted my own assets, or in one case obtained the exclusive permission and source mesh files - this is a must - from the origional creator. I agree with the other posts re. copyright laws. So, it's a no to your request.
