Hmmm, not sure about a specific coal-hauling route as such, as most are layouts with various industries incorporating passenger stations and the like as well.
All Harcourt's layouts are worth downloading as are those by gamerouche, kimmy, hooverman, eso, Vern, which are primarily diesel and electric, and then there are puffernutter, trackplate, Driver Col, who create routes for steam and diesel.

and there has been a revamped Scottish layout done by tmz06003, which covers Mallaig to Fort William. I cannot think of any others off the top of my head at present, but, it's a good start for you anyway, and I'm sure others will be along to chip in with a few others......
Of course, you can always purchase the TC3 classic covering the Settle and Carlisle railway line, which shows you lots of our nice green British countryside.....
