Fatal Error message

Hi All
I am hoping that someone can help with a problem I am having when starting Trainz (2009 WBE).
The problem occurs when I start launcher, click on the start icon, click on Driver, select the route and session I want to run, click load and wait.....

After waiting some time I have to press the windows start key on my keyboard to see the following error.

A fatal error has occurred.
Description:
File: .\TrainzLog.cpp
Line: 53
Class: Trainz Error
Reason: TTFontPath::DrawChar> NULL m_font
Version: Jet vRRRRR.RR Build 1234.5.QQQQQ
No call stack available

My system is running Win XP sp3, with Pentium D 3GHz CPU and 1Gb Ram
My video card is an ATI RadeonHD 4300/4500 also with 1Gb memory
The video card is recently installed and I have switched trainz to DirectX mode.
I have run TrainzDiagnostic tool which does not report any probelms with my system.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

G'day!

I'm afraid for TS2009, you'll need a pretty good computer... :(
How much gig does your Hard Drive have? My computer has 20gigs left of 149gigs and TS2009 lags a tiny bit even with that.
The only solution I can think of is buying a new computer.
What sort of device do you have? Desktop or Laptop?

Cheers! :)

Jake.

Not enough RAM. The recommended minimum is 2GB. Also check HD space required.

Hi Jake

I have a desktop, 149Gb HDD with just over 26Gb free

Hi Tomurban

And yet it was working fine until recently. I have had a new video card installed recently. The ATI Radeon. But wasn't happy with the way it performed with OpenGL. Switched to DirectX and it seemed to work better until now.

Thanks

Thanks for your help everyone.

I have updated the video drivers, checked my directx version (9.0c) and fixed (I think) the .net framework files.

I'm still getting the same message. I will have to check out an extra Gig or two of RAM and see how that goes.

Just in case you are still having issues, I ran TS2010 until recently on 1Gb and it ran fine, so I tend to doubt it's inadequate memory. BAD memory, maybe, but not inadequate. I'm guessing 2009 isn't more of a memory-hog than TS2010!

No progress yet. I am tied up for the next few weeks in training sessions at work. Won't be able to get back to it until after that.

Will let you know how it goes when I can.

Thanks, will keep that in mind before I buy any. I have a testing program for RAM so will run it again sometime.

An Update

I have finally got back to this problem. And after a few other battles with windows :( (problems with corrupt dll's) I have finally bought a 2Gb ram stick which has me back and running Trainz :D

Speculating here, but is it possible that the GeForce crad drivers use RAM more efficiently than the ATI card drivers?

Thanks again for all your help.

error

Hello what does Error: Failed to commit changes to asset <kuid:30204:51001> due to database access error what does this mean and can i fix this problem matt

Usually, that error is indicating that either the database is corrupt (requiring a database repair) or that you need to revert the asset then re-make the changes before committing.
