Hi Everybody!
When I turn on my PC (XP) on stand-by, the fan goes to full speed and stays that way as long as I use the PC does not turn back to normal operation.
I had this problem years ago, and ever time I had to set something somewhere else, but I know no longer what it was ...
Who can help me there?
Greetings

Could be a bios setting for fan speed minimum RPM or similar or it needs to run flat out as something is getting too hot. May need to check the heatsinks are not loose and fans blocked up with fluff.

Most likely. A friend asked me to bid on ebay for a laptop as a present for his other half and left it to me to find a suitable one. I got it for £160 and it was absolutely superb with W7 Ultimate installed. But it crashed after a week and I suggested his son in law (tech minded) to check it for fluff. When he opened it up it looked like a carpet! After he cleaned it, it ran sweet as a nut.
