And finally, the old Big Boy project you guys were working on a while back. Can't seem to find a picture of the render, though.

Best Regards,

You might be the person to ask: What year was the speed lettering introduced? My guess is the early 90's, but I have no idea. I do my best to model the mid 60's to the mid 70's, but it can be a challenge.

Regards,

The first SP speed-lettered locomotive was released in mid April 1991, and the change to larger "Pacific" lettering in May 1991.

The first SP speed-lettered locomotive was SP no. 7107, a GP40M-2 rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen. It was released on March 12, 1991. Numbers 7107-7111 had a smaller lettering size that was superseded with a larger version upon release of the SP no. 7112 a month later, on April 15, 1991. All subsequent GP40M-2 units in this order, nos. 7112-7138, carried speed lettering. SP continued to apply speed lettering to units from March 1991 through to October 1996.

The larger version of speed lettering was adopted in April 1991. Also in April 1991, SP began receiving 55 additional GP60s, joining an already existing fleet of 115 GP60s. These 1991-built GP60s were themselves joined in 1993 and 1994 by 25 more GP60s, all with the new larger version of SP's new image. After SP's rebuilt GP40M-2s and new GP60s, the first SP unit to be repainted to the new image was an MP15AC completed in October 1993.

New and rebuilt SP locomotives in the following series were delivered with speed lettering:

Huh, weird that the numbers on the first order of GP38-2s overlapped with the numbers of the AC44s.

NS 3528 was an ex natural gas test unit while on BN if I remember correctly. Converted back to standard fuel after testing but retained the flared radiator section

Note the Ex- BN LNG Test Unit we are talking about is BN 7149(Take note of the Strobe Ditchlights that were used other than regular ditchlights):

A good feature for separate JR Burlington Northern content would be C30-7's and SD40-2's with strobe ditch lights.

I feel like no one ever noticed some of my previous suggestions here.

Can't forget the blue and white-striped CEFX units!

I believe CP has had the majority of the CEFX AC44s on long-term lease for quite some time now. However, they can occasionally be found on the UP and BNSF.

Lastly, one of the Australian mining railroads has a sizeable fleet of AC4400s.

They already have engine packs, they just are priced higher because of the added detail. Really you rarely get just "one" engine from JR because most have gecko skin.
