Engine sounds and horns help...

Im just not sure how to install custom engine sounds and horns into the trains for Trainz 2010. Before I re-installed trainz 2010. I had some NYCTA subway cars made by magicland. But there were also some engine sounds and horns for these trains. I downloaded them and "Installed" them but they were never applied.

How do you install custom engine sounds and horns into these trains?

Also, How do you make the train car "sway" back and forth like in real life? I added some type of "sway" rule while creating a route in surveyor but the train cars don't sway at all. It just seems un-realistic to me.

Alan,

Installing engine sounds and horns is pretty easy.

Get the Kuids of the new horn and engine sound.

Open up the subway you want to install the new sounds into in Explorer. Using Edit then Open for Edit in Windows Explorer.

Open up the Config.txt file in NotePad.

Look for the different tags such as enginesound = <Kuid:xxxx:xxxx>
Replace this with the corresponding Kuid for the new enginesound you want to use.

Do the same for the hornsound.

Go to the bottom of the Config.txt file and update the Kuid Table by replacing the Kuid numbers for the original enginesound and hornsound with the new ones.

Hope this helps. It's more confusing to type than it is to do.

Thank You. It worked perfectly!

Also, how you get the cars to "sway" back and forth? I tried doing this as a rule in surveyor but it didn't worked. Any reason why?

Edit the loco's config.txt file to add the tag:
cabinsway x
where x is a decimal number. Larger numbers give more sway.

Where exaclty in the config file do I add the "cabinsway x"?

You can place this anywhere outside of any curly parantheses { } things.

I would place this line under enginesound and other parameters usually found at the top part of the config file, but that's just my choice of placement.

I see. Well I sorta got it to work but they sway back and forth too slowy. They lean on one side, stay there for like 35 secs. then lead back to the other side and repeat. But I'll just have to play with it to get what I want I guess.

Thanks!

EDIT: Really they don't move back at all...

Yes. Higher then 35 and the train will move and stay on an angle. Lower then 35 and it won't move at all. Does it depends on the content of trains im using?
