Edenbridge Tram V2 Release (1440*900)

dazza1980

UK modern and trams!
Im pleased to announce that I have upload a new version of my route 'Edenbridge Tram V2'. (UK)
The route is currently in the final stages of proccessing with Auran and I will announce the confirmation of the succesful upload.
Thanks to Paulzmay for a lot of the tram aspects of this route and for the inspiration from Bridgehampton. I look forward to seeing his route and so, I am releasing my route to fill the gap until he has got to a release stage.
The route has a new branch and almost every aspect has been overhauled to include full working interaction with traffic using Boats ATLS system (30 junctions are controlled by ATLS).
The route also uses a new region created by me which gives a more modern UK feel to the traffic.
The route is for 09 users in compatability mode, altough 99% of the work was completed in 06 SP2. I moved the route over to 09 as it gives a huge improvement in frame rates.
The town centre is quite detalied so a good PC spec is needed to run it smoothly.
Please download the associated session 'ET Default Session', as this has all the correct settings for the ATLS system.
Below are a number of screenshots of the route:

If you have any missing dependencies please email or pm me, there may be a few as i believe i used a small amount on non DLS content.

As I said earlier, as soon as it has been uploaded, i will announce it.
Please enjoy and let me know what you think, constructive criticism welcome!

Hi Darren,

This looks pretty special.

I will look forward to downloading it.

What's the tram? Is it on the DLS?

Boat, (Mike)

Hi Mike

The tram isnt on the DLS no, I belive Paulzmay might be able to give a better idea but I think I got it from a site called PTram. Registration is required and there is an additional dependency needed from another site. I cant quite remember, maybe Paulzmay could shed a little light?

Thanks for the comments

Darren

I know its a tiny detail, but the motorway lights they stuck out underneath the bridge, if you raise them slightly so they dont stick out, i know its only tiny tiny thing, but its the small things that make a big difference :).

Awesome layout non the less, keep it up!

Good eyes!

I agree that its the small things that do make a big difference in a layout, all those small things that get taken for granted!

You spend 5 days, going over and over the route and just when you think you have every detail correct something pops up!

Looking at the screenshots there are a few things that ive noticed too, in the bus station shot there is a tram crossing sign facing the wrong way!

Tidgney, thanks for the comments!

Thanks to Paulzmay for a lot of the tram aspects of this route and for the inspiration from Bridgehampton. I look forward to seeing his route and so, I am releasing my route to fill the gap until he has got to a release stage.

You're far too modest - I don't think anyone is going to think of this as a stopgap, more like the main event. I'm certainly going to have to make some improvements to some parts of Bridgehampton to reach this standard. I've still got a long way to go on the main route, but I'll release the Bridgehampton South mini-map as soon as I get the content accepted on the DLS.

Now I'm going to have to buy TS2009 finally...

I've spotted quite a few of my items used - I'm glad you've made good use of them. One concern if you've just uploaded is that my overhead stuff isn't on the DLS yet - I'm still in the process of getting it accepted - some issues with texture files in the wrong material slots in GMax. I could put them up elsewhere for a bit if there is enough demand...

All the best,

Paul

p.s. That tram is at http://www.ptram.eu/download.php?page=pobierz&id=96 register at www.ptram.eu first...

Hi Paul,

Im must apologise, I have jumped the gun with your content, I assumed that you had uploaded it to the DLS.

I dont want to take away your glory, I was honestly trying to make something as good as Bridgehampton, not better! In my opinion there are many things on your route that when I look at your screenies are done in a much better way than what I have done in Edenbridge.

I never got on with 09 and had far too many issues I couldnt overlook, but I think 09 is the way forward as the improvements in frame rates is huge. My new PC is very highly spec'd, yet in 06 it had a noticeable stutter around the town centre, in 09 it runs with out breaking a sweat. :D

One thing I havent mentioned is that the scenery is purely localised to the immediate area around the trackwork, so dont expect any cameras or rolling areas of scenery. I primarily designed Edenbridge to be run from inside the cab or as a passenger.

Paul, thanks for the link for the trams, these are needed for the session. An external source for your overhead stuff would be very nice if it isnt too much bother.
Keep up the good work on Bridgehampton, im looking forward to it!

Still awaiting the full approval from Auran.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

It's not a problem with the content - if it wasn't for my slapdash use of material slots they would be in the queue for the next upload batch. My only concern with uploading them elsewhere is that they would probably still have this error. I can only assume that it causes grief in TS2009 native mode (could you check this for me - it's the pole and wire I'm most concerned by). One other asset I had a similar problem with has now passed, but I had to replace the material, so it won't be a five minute job to do all of them. If I do upload some assets elsewhere I'd like to prioritise the ones needed for Edenbridge and upload just those required - is it possible you could give me a list?

Don't do yourself down - there's quite a lot in your route I'll probably use for inspiration now. I'm sure there are aspects where both of us have excelled. After all, it's not a competition.

And yes, Bridgehampton uses the same trick of mostly only having scenery immediately around the track. The only problem with this is when you need a viaduct...

All the best...

Paul

p.s. Just had the missing content report from Auran:-

- KUID 134105:23026
- KUID 134105:24002
- KUID 134105:24003
- KUID 134105:24202
- KUID 134105:24203
- KUID 134105:74201

I'll get these up somewhere ASAP.

Dezza mate your route came under trs04 SP3 on the DLS but it won't show in Trainz 04 i changed the TRS-Build to 2.4 and am d/loading the session as i type this. can you shead some light on why it isn't working?

It's actually turned up as Trainz service pack 3 (i.e. build 1.3), but it's actually for TS2009. It's highly unlikely that it will work in earlier versions. The DLS seems to be mis-categorising some routes lately...
