I have to ask why you need approval from everyone ? Create what you like, you're the only one you have to please. But if you do ask, then take to heart the tips and use them.

Because then they won't download it and complain. So I'll get rid of the checkerboards and do more altering of the terrain going forward.

PS: I'm going to create a desert. Any ideas?

What type of desert? Where in the world is this desert? Is it a Rain-shadow desert? How much rain will it get? Hamada, Regs, Ergs, what type of Desert? Desert is a very bland term used to describe any place with less than 400mm of rain (16 inches i think) a year.
Will it be a flat desert? Or will it be a desert like in the west of the US? Places such as Arizonia have a much redder look than the Mojave desert, as they are in different climates. There's more rain in the Mojave area than in Phoenix.

I hope you understand research should always be conducted before starting any project, real or not-so-real.

Well since its a fiction route I probably will use multiple textures. I don't know. The textures I have won't give you a specific type. So maybe just a regular ol' desert.

Who cares if nobody will download it and nobody will ever complain or give you anyfeed back of any type - one of my routes has over 10,000 downloads and I have never recived one email about it good or bad from anybody.

Now I hope you do realize this isn't a prototype route.

So a quick summary is you want me to rid of the checkerboard textures and create more slopes and less flat lands?

We want it to within reason, resemble real life.. fictional or not. Take a look outside, or look at pics of the type of area ur after on the internet, is that what your route looks like? Again, not shutting u down Kris, just providing feedback like u asked. if you are after desert now u might want to checkout Joes (socalwb909) cajon thread

He makes them himself. 09 is great, it supports hi def textures too, i only upgraded cos i had the choice and wanted to keep up. GNdome uses 10 which is basically the same as what u have, and some of his pics are the closest to reality ive seen on here. My point is, stop making excuses for why u cant make it realistic lol

Is the textures that Joe has on the DLS?

Never-mind I already have it.

Okay you probably won't be able to tell but I've set the scale to a minimum. However, I won't be able to use the things you suggested I do because it will screw the route up greatly and might have me consider redoing it all.

So as a compromise on the last leg of the route I will do some more farm textures and I'll use what you have given me. Just remind me so I can talk up about it. I think that would be fair.
As far as desert it's going to be a free-for-all type desert. No resemblance of any real life desert whatsoever. So I'm open for any tips on editing because I've started already won't be able to do much as far what new things I should try out. Don't worry I haven't forgot or ignored.

This isn't realistic but I'm getting frustrated i just can't seem to get anything right. This is actually giving me a lot of fits and I can't seem to fix this.

I need to take some time off to regroup because this isn't good at all.

Good Idea. Go outside and look at the real-world. Lots of areas have roads that follow the track. Most grasses are mixed together and don't suddenly change from dark to light. As you said, take a break, use the WWW and take a look at the places you're trying to build. Go exercise - it can be a great stress reliever

Holding down on the [ or ]
This suggestion has been given more then once.
My question:
[ checkerboards example's ]
Did you even consider trying it?

Various suggestions have been given. Take your time, try them, try them some more. Things are never easy the first time, no need to go emo over that.
Rome was not build in a day. The same goes for routes, real or fictional.

In reaction to this:
I'm going to create a desert. Any ideas?
Most likely a flat one but if y'all insist I might decide to add a little spice & flavor to it.
Idea's; real world impressions without having to travel an inch.
That trick works for about everything. So if you have some disabbility that makes it impossible to look outside or imagine how a fictional yet real feeling world looks like: Google images.
