East Kentucky

Everything there looks like it belongs - as to what (if anything) is missing, install that lot and consult Content Manager...

I am not very good at working things out when something goes wrong, this is one error whilst importing cdp's:

The other is Missing dependencies, the dependencies list is huge, is there an easy way of finding these?

All help appreciated!!:o

Edit:
Should I go to the "Today" tab and delete them, then re-import one at a time?

No need to delete anything. You have the dependencies, or at least some of them. For the ones showing missing sub-dependencies (the yellow '?' puzzle piece) just drag them into the download window to get the DLS stuff, everything else is listed on the checkrail download page...

Thanks....The 9800GT card is the card that I think I will be upgrading to in the future. Do you think that card would be able to take great shots like yourself when it comes to crisp and detail shots.....

Not sure what the difference is between a GT and a GTX but the GTX is the card my shots come from, on an old XP rig with just 3-Gig of RAM.

Andy

The only one missing (I think) was kuid:370528:1272 (Item 442 in the config file) from the East Kentucky 3 v1.1 asset, couldn't get it from the download station. I will search the web.
Edit: I think it is n_womanSp_1
Edit2: From the pack 50_n_womansp.cdp, somehow I missed it!
All in, no missing dependencies! Thanks!:D

From the page that I looked at. The GTX is slightly better than the GT.

BTW, Does the EK3 versions 1.1 work for Trainz 2010? I am planning to use the EK3 route as my test route for how powerful my PC will perform as I believe it is one of the highly detailed routes.

It was built in TS2010. It looks best in 'Compatibility Mode' though, which won't be a fair test of your computer. The machine will run better in 'Native Mode', but you will have transparency problems with the alpha trees.

A better test of your rig would be to get the SpeedTrees version and run it in 'Native'. Or get both...

Andy ;)

Just installed EK3 and when I start the Trainz program. I go into start and then go into EK3 route and then hit the create a session button. Once I hit the create a session button. A screen comes up and tells me the following:

Error - Map is missing or damaged
Route is damaged or missing files

Can someone help me out with this issue?

Thanks in advance

Here are the two that I am missing according to the content manager

To fix the error you need to patch up 44088 and make sure you follow the the instructions, hope this helps you out.

Thanks...I was planning to install the patch later today when my wife and I went out to lunch and go shopping. This way, The installment can happen when I am away from the PC

Found cause of AI derailments

First let me say that EK3 is my favorite route. Andy, you did a fantastic job asn set a high standard for others to follow.

As was others, I was having a problem with AI trains diasppearing due to derailments. I finally witnessed a AI train derailment at Leatherwood. I had a train with two engines and 20 cars go from Lwood Arrival 3-4 to Bin 4 to load coal and it derailed. I ran it again and it derailed again when the last two cars passed switch LW_12 and the switch reverted to its default position under the train. Since Leatherwood has very complex track it would be hard to troubleshoot the problem here. I looked for another derailment location.

I found a site at Tilford 2. My AI test train was one engine and 10 hoppers. It ran from switch TF_04 to Tilford2_Track1. Every time it would derail as the last two cars passed TF_05 and that switch would change to its default postion under the train. I changed engines, cars and drivers and it still derailed. Using the Replace Assets tool I tried several different tracks, including built-in Auran track, and it still derailed. I deleted and replaced track around TF_05 but no change. I added, deleted and changed signals with no luck. As a last resort I deleted EK3 and got a fresh download of the route but still had the same problem.

I decided to remove all assets connected to that section of track. One by one I disconnected TF_06, bypassed Bin 1 and disconnected TF_08 at the other en of the yard. All that was left was a stub ended track with a bunch of splines and I still got derailments. I then replaced splines one at a time and FINALLY found the problem. The curved spline that ran from TF_06 to the straight spline of track 1 was defective. Once I replaced this spline there were no more derailments.

I went back to the original EK3 route and checked this spline. The spline joints checked OK. With the Split Spline tool I disconnected that spline and then reconnected it but still got derailments. It was only when I deleted this spline and then replaced it did the derailments stop.

In this troubleshooting process I noted that there was another derailment problem at the other end of Tilford 2 at TF_09. By replacing splines one at a time I found the defective spline on track 1 as the curved spline from TF_08 to the spline where the two dwarf signals are.

The one thing that these two problems have in common is that both defective splines are at the FIRST spline past the FIRST diverging switch past the derailment switch. This may be significant.

I have no Knowledge of code and therefore can go no farther in troubleshooting this derailment problem. But Andy, if you and your tech friends could look specifically at these two defective splines and determine why they are bad, it would be a boon to everybody and sure help solve other problems.

With the knowledge I had gained I went back to Leatherwood to see what I could do there. I replaced all of the track from LW_12 to the spline just before LW_08B but still got derailments. But I did find that a train with two engines and 18 cars would pass OK but the same train with 19 cars would derail. With the 19 car train the engines had entered the interlocking at the other end of the yard. So I replaced all track from LW_08B to S9.9E5. You have to be careful because of the complexity of the trackwork. I don't know which spline in this group was defective but that took care of the problem and trains now run to Bin 4 without derailing. But that just goes to show how far away the problem spline can be from the derailment site.

I hope my troubleshooting adventures have shed some light on the derailment problems. I will let others take it from here to find some solutions.

Wow - Thanks for that!

I will have a look at that lot. Definitely on the EK4 fixlist, but not impossible I will fix EK3 and upload a fixed version...

Andy :)

Hmmm, well, as this is the screenshot thread I don't suppose there would be any objections to me posting some......errr......screenshots.

An excellent route young Dermmy my lad, and a wonderful contribution from Pofig also, I've polished my graphics card up a wee bit since I was here last, I hope these do a bit of justice to your hard work, Andy. Thanks v.m. for getting this upgraded for those of us now utilising TS2010 and TS12, I love the texturing and scenery placement, all round an excellent high quality layout for everyone to enjoy.

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

Thanks Ex! Welcome back, your contributions to the various screenshot threads have been missed. I love seeing my routes from viewing angles I have never used. Some locations are obvious but every now and then I see one where I really have to stop and think "Where the heck was that one taken?". Great stuff...

Andy ;)

Hi guys - I just installed the latest version of EK3 and here is what I get. Hopefully, Someone can help me out with this issue. Thanks in advance.
