East Kentucky

Thanks Dermmy for your explanation. I try to play it in TS2010 SP3 build 44088. What is Compatibility Mode and Native Mode? I don't have that choice in the options.

I just have to state my opinion real quick... I have to say that you lose a lot of the beauty that's in the tundra tree's version (The original), the dark speed trees and the mostly 3D track take away from it, almost make it ugly from my stand point. I was driving through the local mountains not too long ago, and I can tell you the tree's sure didn't look like that.

My pointless $0.02

Cheers

checkrail's next release (in conjunction with trainz.up) will be EK3-ST.

ST? SpeedTrees! Pofig has re-planted the entire route using his trees, including a whole heap of new content for the route. He has now passed the 'converted' route back to me for some more detail tweaking and additions. The new version of the route is identical to EK3 in respect to trackwork etc, but look for lots of other changes in addition to the new tree content.

The route is currently TS2010 SP3 but will possibly be moved to 12 if performance increase warrants excluding users of the earlier version.

When? No proposed date, but I think 'soon' is fair...

Andy :)

Don't want to bother you, but you might want to fix some of the tight curves.. make their radius constant, you know what I mean. I started doing this for all curves in the current version of the route and it changes it significantly.

Compatibility mode allows the game to run older content that would either not work or show up weirdly in Native mode.

It's in the options menu in the game itself, not the one you access from the launch screen.

In the game, select "Main menu", then "Options...". In the window that comes up, go to "Video Settings" (should open to that by default). There should be a check-box option about 2/3 down that says "Enable compatibility mode for older content:".
Make sure it has a check mark.

You will need to restart the game for the changes to take effect.

Yep - that was 'on the list'

Well I need to say it somewhere, but the East Kentucky project is pretty much dead.

Pofig's 'Replace Asset' speed-tree version WILL be released - soon - but after that I suspect the saga is over.

I simply cannot live with speed trees. I love the performance gains, but for me Trainz and Trainz route-building is a primarily visual experience and STs - even the best of them - just don't do it for me.

That leaves the EK project stuck in one version only - TS2010 SP3. I honestly wish I had never taken the thing out of 04, but there is too much done to go back.

Is it worth creating routes for one version/one service pack? I honestly don't know,

I am not spitting the dummy and walking away, I love this sim, but until i work out exactly where to go from here EK is done and dusted.

Please do not let this degenerate into yet another pro.anti ST debate. STs are here to stay. Nothing can be done about that.

If this thread does degenerate into such a debate I will request it locked, which would be a shame...

Hello Dermmy

I'm working on changes of the route ''DB four together'', which now run in TS10 native and i admit, that TS12 is very demanding, a lot of things i must repaired.
That's the reason why i asked you if Clovis3 will be made for TS12.

If i had the chance to make the decision on which route to work, i would say EK3.

regards
celje

I don't have the possibility to choose a mode in options. I have a Dutch version who seems to be different. I can only choose DirectX or OpenGL, resolution, bitdepth, full screen or not, screen (4:3, 16:10, auto, etc) and antialias.
Because I can choose the drivers, I could solve the problem by replacing the missing loco's in the drivers setup if I should know which consist is driven by which driver en what their starting point is.
I have the same problem in Jeff's Coal session.
I would appreciate it if someone gives me that info for both sessions.

Wrong menu! Enter Surveyor, then > Main Menu > Display Options > Enable Compatibility Mode

Quit

Restart

Andy :)

No matter whether you decide to re-do EK or leave it alone Andy this will still for a long time to come be one of my favorite Routes that i enjoy as often as i can. Thank you very much mate. So how's about we get sum pics up here folk's.

Same here Dermmy. 2010 EK3 is it for me. Some other routes might come along without ST's that will be just as good, but none will be better than EK. Yours is the standard now, and EK should keep me happy for centuries.

Waiting now for Hudson River by Zorronov, and whatever else you might decide to do.

Thanks for your devotion and contribution to TRS.:Y:

EK3 is truly a work of art in my book. It took me but a few minutes to replace the trees and shrubs with ones from Pofig and I love it. Thanks for all your hard work.

Was already enabled. Problem not solved; loco's still not visible, name in red in the driver setup. In Surveyor, F7, I have the name of the loco's CSX GP40-2 Yn3 and the SD 38-2 L&N 4503v in red and black. So I can replace them if I should know the link between a driver and a loco and the starting point where to replace the loco's.

Thanks for your info.

Thanks guys - truly appreciate the comments! Went back to building EK4 in Comp Mode last night and enjoyed Trainz more than I have for about a month. Maybe building routes for one version is worth while!

@ Mavu: If you are in Compatibility Mode and the locos are no-show the only cause is missing dependencies. It could be loco dependencies or could possibly be missing driver commands. Anyway just replacing the 'start' locos won't help because the same locos are on Portal trainz which appear later. Please double-check in CM that the locos are not missing something and also double check that you downloaded installed and committed the driver commands cdp that was packed in the same download file as the session. If you over-wrote existing commands they need to be manually committed, check your 'Open For Edit' tab in CM...

...my dog ate my assets...!

 I could not delete the first train, so I deleted the locomotives...they took the train with them!

Minor problem...

I park a trade-in loco beside the train & swap loco's in Surveyor edit session mode & everything works as well.

Andy, for the CSX GP40-2 YN3 is missing kuid 74779:158290. I get also the following errors:
CSX GP40-2cab,<kuid:219472:1368>: the tag ‘mesh’ can not be used in this container ‘interior’
LocoCoupler Front Plow,<kuid2:45324:85306:1> the tag ‘script’ in container ‘mesh’is empty
LocoCoupler Rear,<kuid2:45324:85303:1> the tag ‘script’ in container ‘mesh’is empty
How do I solve that; delete and redownload?

In compatability mode nothing needs 'fixed'...

Is it worth creating routes for one version/one service pack?

Yes, on reflection I think it is. Specially if it is the last and best performing version that allows trees that look like trees...
