East Kentucky

I remember not that long ago getting a lecture about posting piccy's on this Masterpiece Andy, Sumone said the tree's didn't do it justice glad too see you've come over to the dark side mate ROFL.
Cheers Mick.

LOL - I never really left the dark side! I love the performance in Native mode, but you will never get a screenshot like that out of speedtrees :) And don't anybody talk to me about 60Mb 2-poly monstrosities that spin as you pass - that ain't a tree!

I'm giving Indiana a rest for a bit and tweaking this old thing up with new track, new roads, ATLS crossings, spline grass, tweaked ground textures and a few other mods. At first I was just fiddling with it for myself, but I kinda like where it's going.....

Andy ;)

Superb shots Andy, but no suprise its coming from the Grandmaster himself.like very much grass into dirt onto track scenes very smooth very natural.what grass you used in the last pictRoy

Ace shot Andy!

That worn bit of grass around the gantry base is top class. Subtle, but totally convincing as is the rest of the image.

I also like the gradient and the train disappearing around the distant background. So many people would have left that bit straight and flat.

A true lesson on how it should be done.

Thanks Casper, thanks Roy! The grass is mostly spline by tram__ (on the DLS but tricky to search, there are TWO underscores after the name) with a sprinkling of Trunda's grass objects. It's a JVC mesh with textures by Trunda. It is in the JVC(T**) series with quite a few colour, width and height variations. There are two sets: one has transparency issues in Comp Mode so make sure you are using the appropriate set for your version of Trainz. In Comp Mode it blends almost perfectly with Trunda's grass objects - same textures, so it would, wouldn't it...

Andy :)

Dermmy

for me comp mode is old not acceptable stuff so is any spline other than track,road,wires.... looks very nice but not gonna work for me. Yes tram__ i know funny search tricks for eastern EU stuff many times.

ROy;)

ROy, neither is comp mode good for me, but the bare necessity of TrainzMac not supporting it anyway forces me. However, Dermmy did a native mode version of EK3, which works very well for me.
As for your website coming up soon, I am looking forward to it because I grabbed Cayden's route (Revelstoke - Kicking Horse Pass), so there is a basis for comparison.
Waiting for EK4

1. Thanks For The Lovely Route Andy!

Found this on the last page before this one, post #925.

Thanks Steve, Mikelj :)

Ulmer I have always meant to say how much I like that Mark Twain quote you use - I quote it often since I first saw it in your sig!

Yep, I love that grass! I sharpen screenshots out of Comp Mode to make them 'pop' a bit, but it does overdo the grass sometimes . Great stuff though and it's this sort of unselfish co-operation between three creators that makes Trainz sing....

Hi Woody, glad you are still enjoying EK2! Just for fun here's the shot above (near as I can get it!) in EK2, 3, and 4....

Andy :)

I just looked at your homepage. There you say that you are developing EK4 on TS2010, comp mode. You have an EK3 version in TS2010, native mode, which runs just fine on my MacMini. You also said that the conversion to native mode was mainly replacing those ugly speed trees with Pofig's trees. Could you do this with EK4 as well - once you have released EK4, of course?
I will download the comp mode version of EK4, but I expect lots of missing assets, especially the tracks. Now let's see ...

The last picture is the EK4? Are you serious? Do you think that game developers will return a compatibility mode?
The return to innocence. But it is your right.
IMHO you deprive the route of the future. After all, you have a choice ...

OK - EK2, EK3, EK3_ST, EK4....

On some routes I prefer SpeedTrees. On some routes I prefer older style trees. With SpeedTrees limiter shortens view. SpeedTree LOD lacks bulk. Distant trees are too sparse.

Pofig I was happy that you did EK3_ST. If you wish to do EK4_ST I will be happy also! Of all the SpeedTrees I like Pofig trees best. I use no others. On this route I like appearance of old trees better.

Developers move on, I stay behind :)

Andy

Note: To English speakers this post appears stilted. It is to make Google Translation easier....

Wow, what a comparison. I enjoy the older trees much more as well. Friendlier on the computer and they look so much better. I hate any speedtree style of tree, the EK3_ST shot just looks like it has plastic trees on it. The bottom shot is much, much more realistic. As someone who frequents eastern Kentucky, I can say that is spot on.

Cheers,
Woody

Andy, I have installed TS10 and TS12. I do not have a problem with your route.

This is impossible. EK4 need for new content but the rats left me without a job. I'm not going to spread in the network. I'm sorry.
