Easiset way to make a quad mainline?

Getting back into trainz after a couple years away. TRS2006 is different from UTC.

I understand that it's easier to use single lines four times over, but is there any tips on how to get the tracks the right distance apart without making surveyor trying to loop them?

Start with your first track. make a short distance strait track. (just make sure it is strait. Even lock it strait with the straiting tool. Then run the track to where ever you want it. with how ever many turns you want. (in the direction you want the train to travel on the track) At the other end of the main line do a short distance strait track again locking it in with the straitener. Now run your secound track (in the direction you want the train to travel) with the splines exactly next to where you placed the first tracks splines. And repeat this for your 3rd and 4th track and you will come out with a perfectly laid track.

However if you put any junctions anywhere in the track it will make that section uneven. To fix this problem just treat the area you want the split tobe as the end of the main line, then restarting the mainline after the splits.

Or use one of the many track guides available on the DLS. Here is one example,

They are also available for three and four tracks.

In UK practice the distance between the running rails (4" 8 1/2 inches) is known as the "4 Foot".When there are four tracks the distance between the first line and the second line is called the " 6 foot".From the second line to the third is the "10 Foot" , then the third line to the fourth is the 6 foot.So you have 4 Foot-6 Foot-4 Foot-10 Foot-4 Foot-6 Foot-4 Foot.

I use the 4 track level crossings as a guide, then run single track between them, when I'm happy with the position of the track just delete the level crossings.

Martinvk's track guides are an excellent way of spacing your tracks, there are other track guides on the DLS, with different spacings ... please check my site for a collection of surveyor tools.
To keep the tracks from 'looping' use the shift key when placing track splines close together.
