Dual Gauge Track

Hi, Can anyone suggest a kuid for 36in / 56in dual gauge track with brown or grey ballast.

I am adding a 36in logging route to dump logs at an Auran Lumber Mill, but the line also needs to be standard gauge (56in) at the mill.

"Mike10" probably has something like this on the DLS, but could use some help locating it.

Thanks,

Al

MAN6 track components by the late Elvenor are 3 ft and 4 ft 8.5 in gauge (std ga) and are on the DLS. It is possible to make all the various dual gauge components including a swish (where the common rail changes sides) but it takes a little practice (but well worth the effort). Matching ballast as a ground texture is also available.

Linda Irene Tingvik (shortline2) made a 4-rail (no common rail) rail only track to match.

Hi Al:

Glad you found it (I should have mentioned it was pre 2004).

Its great stuff but takes a little practice. There used to be a tutorial on how to use it but I have no idea where it might be found after all this time.

Shortline2 also made std ga and 3 ft ga rail only track to match.

The only place I've ever used the 4-rail rail only track is on a turntable for a dual gauge turntable (make track laying easy).

Hi,

Just for the fun of it, here is a link to the Denver Public Library website and a image of 4 rail dual gauge in actually use back in the days.
It is 3-foot and standard gauge BTW.

This is inside the Cripple Creek District, the mine is the Mary McKinney mine that used to be in the Anaconda area, mine is long gone, the gulch here is to be filled in and yet more history destroyed in search for the gold..

The standard gauge cars are on the Midland Terminal trackage, and the narrow gauge is the long gone Florence & Cripple Creek Railroad.

Thanks for the plug Ben BTW. :)

Take care

Linda

The MAN6 Dual Gauge Track (kuid:63290:38014) includes a readme.txt with instructions for Elvenor's dual gauge kit.

Hi Linda:

Neat photo and as for the plug - we narrow gauge nuts gotta stick togerher, lol.

Hi Peter:

I never realized it was there. I figured out how to use them on my own (obviously the hard way, lol).
