Well . . . given the Leviathan and Tornado builds, http://www.leviathan63.com/ and http://www.a1steam.com/
it is not irrational to wonder if some soul might build a replica from scratch.

Now that would be awesome.

All that's needed is the money and the will to do so.

And maybe while they were at it they'd throw in doing a Mason Bogie loco just for the fun of it?

... #191 could steam, but Putting a non-Strap Iron Boiler onto her alone would take a HUGE chunk of change. Her wheels and frame are cracked too. It'd take a lot of doing to get her Rolling again, but it'd be Something worth Celebrating.

Believe me, I'm all for anything related to #191, but nothing besides the Cosmetic restoration has been, and will be done right now...

The story goes that Bob Richardson found it in the mountains as a water tank. The original tender stayed in Wisconsin, there was nothing left to move back to Colorado.

I was talking to the Manager of the Store in the Station, and he told me that they Tried to unload 191's Tender off the Trailer and it literally shuddered and collapsed into pieces. Which is why they went hunting for another. :hehe:

Does not surprise me in the slightest.

Its not worth replacing 3/4 of the locomotive just so she can steam again. She is the oldest authentic Colorado engine, and should stay that way. Her historic value outweighs any value of operation, its not worth the lost material.
