driving cars, boats, and trams

Any kuid that is of kind traincar and has the tag engine 1 can be placed on a track and driven. It doesn't matter what the shape of the object is. You can make a house into a loco and drive it if you want.

I appreciate your answer, but placing a car on tracks instead of a road...or placing a boat on a track instead of on water, doesn't make any sense. Why make cars, trams, and boats drivable at all (as it says on the box)...if you have to drive them on a track, instead of what they are supposed to be
driven on? If this restriction is required, then they are truly misleading folks by what is stated on the box, and in discriptions of the product on the web.
While driving a house on a track might be amusing, I think that most people would assume that this feature meant driving boats on water, car on roads, etc. and not on a railroad track.

You can use invisible track for boats, and there is a track on the DLS called Road Track Dual that can be used for cars. The truck in my signature will have a drivable version once I get the textures the same.

Hi pincaviglia86.

The invisible tracks look like this – in Surveyor. They disappear when you go into Driver.

It’s great fun. You can run the plane, boat and train all at the same time. I’ve chased my train up the coast many times in a Bell helicopter.

I am not quite sure what you mean by drivable. Does that mean you will be able to have a first person view from inside the truck....like inside of a train?
I think I have seen invisible track and dual track, but the cars just seem to travel to a point, disappear, and re-appear at the original spot. To me, this is not exactly "driving" a car (i.e.0 making turns, starting and stopping, etc.).
also, suppose I get a drivable car from you or someone else on the DLC....
does it count as a train engine? In other words, can you lay down a road, put the car on it, and then enter driver mode....or do you still have to have
a railroad track and an engine. Also, if I had a train and a (drivable)car in driver mode....when I click on "internal view....where would I go? into the train cab, or inside the car? All this stuff seems confusing. Why doesn't Auran explain things in better detail when they start bragging about these features? I mean, they talk about driving cars, boats, etc. and explain nothing about that in the manual for 2010. Also, I see all these videos about speed tree twisting around and over rocks, etc. However, I don't see
this "speedtree" in surveyor. Am I just blind, stupid, or is speedtree a seperate thing that you have to buy. For a web site....auran pretty much sucks. It sure would be nice to have a decent, and especially "DETAILED"
manual for 2010...instead of having to wade through forum post after forum post to find things out! Sorry for the ranting, but for what you pay for 2010, they could have explained things better. Sure, a big fat printed manual might be too expensive for them, but it wouldn't hurt their pocketbooks to provide a more detailed pdf to print out and read...without having to sit at the computer for hours on end combing the forums for answers. Come on, auran...I have seen more detailed manuals for little games on reflexive arcade.:(

ignore this, I think I double-posted by mistake. wasn't logged in or something....sory about that.

Yes, you will be able to sit inside it. I am using one of the interiors from one of American_Connection's drivable trucks.

Technically, the claims by Auran are inaccurate. You can,t drive a plane, you can only fly it!. Something similar applies to a boat. Trainz is basically a railway simulation so everything runs on railway tracks, even planes. Where the claims could be argued as misleading is that you can,t steer the boat anywhere on the water you feel like. Nor can you fly a plane all over the sky. Otherwise Auran's claims are accurate. The planes, boats, road vehicles, houses (now we are getting silly) are simply trains/ locomotives that just look like planes, boats, etc. If you look at it in that way it (hopefully) becomes easier to understand. p.s the road vehicles that run on roads that you get from the "buildings" tab dont count.

I see...I guess. I appreciate your response. Thank you, and happy railroading.:)

Sounds pretty cool. I always wanted to sit behind the whee of a big old truck. I am going to check out your work on the dls. Thanks, my friend.:)
The drivable version is not on the DLS yet. The first and for now only thing I have on the DLS is the cab unit of the truck. The trailer just gets an error saying "Could not open file location," when I try to upload it. Once I get the textures correct, I will get the truck uploaded. Also, I recommend searching Alien3. (the person who created the origional static truck that I reskinned) He has lots of drivable vehicles. The interior is the one of the default HST though. I think Whecsailor has some too. Andi06 has a single and a double decker bus that has a custom interior. I highly recommend that too.
