Driver Rule to alter consist

Is there any driver rule/action which will add wagons or coaches to a consist. Or remove them for that matter.

I'd like to send an AI locomotive through an 'industry' or a portal or even just a trackmark and have wagons automatically added (or deleted I guess).

I know that it is not prototypical to have wagons appearing out of thin air but untill I master AI shunting it would be useful.

In some of the blurb for TS 2009 there is a line saying 'add or delete consists on the fly' -- is this it? And how would it be done?

Hi David,

There are many ways to do what you are asking. Some of them are simple and some are more complex. Here is a link that will help you get started:

Check out the articles on portals and operations. After that take a look at the articles on the use of LARS industries. That should get you started.

Thank you William, but I don't think this covers what I want. I can use portals and have set up a couple of industry things, but they seem to involve existing consists or a totally new one. So industries will fill or empty wagons on the cosist sent into them and portals can generate whole consists (loco plus wagons/carriages) or return an existing consist unaltered.

What I want is to send a loco only into 'something' and have it emerge with wagons or carriages which I woud specify in the 'rule'. I don't see this as an option in portals nor in industries (unless there is an industry which creates wagons and adds them onto the loco -- which would be cool and be just what I want).

David,

Sforget made a rule called emit now that works with TRS2004, I'm not sure about TRS2006 or above though. This rule allows any consist to be emitted any time you wish from a selected portal that has been configured to do this. I used it once and it works pretty well. I setup an emit now portal in a yard area, and then had a consist of selected cars appear so they could be shunted over to various industries.

You could do the a similar thing by emitting the consists as you need them, and even perhaps a loco when needed so you'll have the cars and locos to switch then send back into the another portal on their journey to the outside world.

OK, if you want the more complex solutions then either the emit train rule as mentioned or go over to the forums at trainzproroutes.org and check the forums at the very bottom for SCS2006. This is a very powerful rule that can create consists on the fly with or without a loco. Mike Carter is the creator and he is working on a new version for TS2009 although I have heard that SCS2006 works with TS2009. The SCS2006 rule is on the DSL but the manual is available at the TPR forum.
