Driver End

When using double cab electric or diesel locos in '06, and using the command 'Run around Train', the driver is facing backwards after carrying out the command, he is in the cab next to the consist, rather than facing forward from the front cab. Is there a command/rule that will solve this problem anywhere in CMP?

Any help will be appreciated.

Hugh

try reading instructions beacuse you press a certain key to go to another view

I'm not looking to change the cab view, that changes automatically, but the driver can still be seen in the rear facing cab, I want to see him in the front facing cab.

Chasps! Chasps! Read his post!

He wants to know how to make the image of the driver change ends when viewed from the outside, not how to change cab ends in cab view. After the run round operation when you look at the loco from the outside the driver is still seen at the end he was originally driving before the change. How do you make it so that after the run round he appears to be at the front of the loco?

Sorry Hugh, I don't know this one myself!

Driver change ends

Hi mcwilly,

Some of the double cab locos do this automatically when they change direction, The aussie NR locos are very good at this they even have the driver change ends when shunting. The AEC railcar also has the driver change ends but sometimes it's a bit slow. If you are doing a runaround then driving off to another destination try stopping the train then giving a continue schedule command. This usually gives them a kick up the .... and they will then change ends.

ps. Do not stop the train before it has recoupled as this wil cancel the runaround command.

Changing ends

Hi american_conections,

"I had this problem too, if I remember right, just turn the loco around and /or change consist direction"

The trouble with that is, you have to exit your session and go back to surveyor to turn the loco and change consist direction.

Cheers,

or you could use a turntable.

Getting the driver image to change ends automatically requires custom scripting. The default Auran behaviour is to place the driver character image in the front or A end of the loco when it is placed and leave it there forever.

My locos and a number of others have a script capability built-in that moves the driver character to the correct end based on the direction of travel. It's not difficult to do but is not done automatically by Trainz.

There is a command on the DLS that changes the effective direction of the train (ie what the AI sees).

I can't remember the name off the top of my head (I'm at school so can't check either), but it should move the driver to the frontmost cab. It doesn't always, but it does usually. Should you wish to rotate the loco on the spot (unrealistic, but useful), there is a reverse tram command which does this job.

Thanks for all the suggestions people.

I had already resorted to your suggestion Harry and included a turntable before reading your post.

I have several of your locos Eldavo which carry this out automatically (and several others - e.g. Pikkabird's excellent Class 37s if I remember correctly).

Cheers

Hugh (macwilly) :) :)
