There are 5 items making up this consist (16a, 16b, 16vmd, 16vmc, 16vme)
I have been trying to fix them for some time now (see previous posts).
I can fix the warnings but not the errors. It seems they are not able to be repaired.
Does anyone know of any freeware or payware where I can get this German DMU?
Thanks
Stuart.

Hi Stuart.

Can you provide the kuid numbers and the error messages for these items?

That will help. :)

John

Thanks John. Kuids are -
2:110115:175:1
2:110115:176:1
2:110115:177:1
2:110115:178:1
2:110115:179:1

The error messages all concern Textures missing or cannot be loaded.
They are from older versions of Trainz.
I moved them up a couple of newer versions of Trainz but 12 has beaten me.
It's a nice looking DMU and I am surprised there has not been a newer version on the DLS.

I have had a look at dr_svt_18_16a,<kuid2:110115:175:1> and there is no particular difficulty in repairing it - it requires the usual updates for a 2.0 asset to get to 2.9. If you describe the difficulty you are having repairing it someone might be able to offer some advice (I have no idea what you mean by 'previous posts').

Remaining errors.
I read somewhere that the texture files could be removed.
I must have misunderstood because when I tried it, it caused more problems.
I assume from your info that there is a way to solve these errors.
Hope you can suggest what I can do.

Error: Texture 'dr_svt18_16a_body/innen.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'dr_svt18_16a_body\dr_svt18_16a.im'.
Error: Texture 'dr_svt18_16a_body/env_metal2.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'dr_svt18_16a_body\dr_svt18_16a.im'.
Error: Texture 'dr_svt18_16a_body/night\innen.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'dr_svt18_16a_body\night\svt18.16_night.im'.

What I meant by 'previous posts' is that I have been trying to fix this DMU for years and every so often I post for help again to see if someone has a new idea.
So far I haven't found him/her.
I apologize if the solution is very basic but I am still learning how to fix errors and I sometimes find the help files hard to follow.
Thanks
Stuart.

That's the same errors I identified.

Start PEV's PM2IM and set your options so that Open IM Files and Adjust Speculars are ticked. Then open the asset in Explorer, and open the IM files in the asset from the File Open menu in PM2IM. That will clear the invalid texture type IDs and the errors will disappear.

Perhaps not a basic fix, but quite common for assets of that build.

Thanks for the help.
However, I must be missing something very basic.
In PM2IM couldn't find 'Open IM Files' under the Options tab- only Strip Textures and Speculars.
I assume that when you say open the asset in Explorer you mean Windows Explorer.
I have used the PM2IM often in other situations and it has worked fine.
However, to be on the safe side I have deleted all PEVs and the 5 kuids and re-installed them just all in case I had changed something. No luck there.
I note that the items in question are installed with the 3 error lines as 'im' already. Why would it be necessary to use the PM2IM?
Looks as if there is some very basic operation everyone assumes is common knowledge but which I don't know about.
Cheers
Stuart.

You may be working with a different version of PM2IM. Mine is 2.05. The process I am following is described in Help as:
Remove Textures
Command Line ... Adjust Speculars
The program automatically removes unsupported texture references when converting PM to IM meshes. This process only recognises "Diffuse, Reflect and Bump" textures.. any other types such as "Self-iluminated" or "Refract" are removed.
To allow opening of IM files, the Open IM Files option must be set in the Options menu.
To remove unsupported texture references from an IM mesh, open the IM file (with the Open IM Files option set) from the File menu and the File Open dialog.
The process is irreversible once the file is opened. The texture removal will happen automatically.
PLEASE NOTE: the original IM file will be lost (over-written) if you chose to remove the unsupported texture types.
This process cannot be launched from the command line with an IM file as arguement.
The Open IM Files option to open IM's is turned OFF when launched with the "-trawl" switch. Trawling is only for converting PM's to IM's.

You will need to find the equivalent operation in your version.

At last!
After some years I now have the first of these working. (I am too tired to do the others today.)
Would you like to know how it happened?
No one told me that the repairs should be done before converting to Build 2.9. (I should have read the instructions properly- if it is mentioned there.)
I have always brought the kuids up to 2.9 and then tried to fix them.
In desperation I started to apply the PM2IM to the Build 2 - as imported.
As you predicted, the errors disappeared.
When I win the Lottery you are top of the list.
Can't thank you enough for your time and patience.
Cheers
Stuart.
