downloading from DLS to 2009 wbe

I am new to Trainz and downloaded 2009 wbe, signed up for 3 months FCT and promptly looked at the excellent stuff that people have designed for the Trainz series, I thought 2009 WBE was backwards compatable? yet when I downloaded stuff designed in trainz 2004 or 2006 after downloading and installing, I get weird problems with download manager, something like 286 errors downloading a 146 kb file designed with 2006. DLM went into a loop, ommiting continuous sounds that I could only get out of by switching off my PC. Trianz 2009 would not start and it did a rebuild database, I tried again to download stuff, 100's of errors occured, and had to rebuild database again.
If I try to download other stuff, I get loads of errors reported, and even if it is successful Trainz rebuild's the database again. I have had to re-install 2009 twice, I don't know if I am imagining it but it seems too me that by not installing SP1 and the other small patch for 2009 WBE, Trainz doesn't hang and seems much better.
I am not going to download anymore stuff from DLS unless it states that it was specifically made for 2009WBE.

Hi,sggcomp and welcome to the disese known as trainz,
first of all, do you need help, or are you just having a rant and getting it out of your system?
don't worry we all need to do that in here from time to time,:hehe:

If you need help, then jot down your specs, ie OS, Build No, CPU, Graphics card, Memory, and so on.
Also you said that you dowloaded the game! did the download go smoothly with no hickups, because some members have had weard problems because of faulty downloads.

Persoaly I always go for the CD, less chance for things to go wrong.

the more information you can give the biger the chances are that someone else in here will know whats wrong and help you.

I suppose I was just having rant! funny you should mention download issues... I tried to download it twice using just the browser, clicking on the url Trainz gave, I was using firefox 3.06 and twice it said it had downloaded, but the file was only about 1.86gb when I double clicked on the downloaded file it said it was incomplete???? I downloaded free download manager v. 3 I think the link is on the Trainz download site, I pasted the download link from Trainz into Download manager, and it downloaded the whole file 2.49gb and it installed fine.
