Downloading content help please

After spending considerable time downloading many items from the DLS, half of what I downloaded says missing dependencies and they don't work in the game. First question is why are they on the DLS if they are useless? Second question: is there a way to know before downloading if something is missing or if it is in anyway faulty? Thanks for your help.

See the thread about how to add the 2010 builtin dependencies that are not included with TS12. Anything not affected by 2010 missing builtins will be down to the content creator probably using stuff from third part sites, use Google. Old stuff is on the DLS because there are people still using old versions and most of it works in higher versions anyway. See here:

There is an ongoing DLS repair going on at the moment - plenty about this on the forum. Or see here Download Station Cleanup - TrainzOnline

Download assets of version 2.7 or higher to be sure they work without needing repairs.

Thanks much for the help. Very glad to hear about the DLS cleanup, it is sorely needed and will no doubt be appreciated by all.
