Downloading and Installing procedures

Hi,

I am completely new to Trainz.

There seems to be alot to learn, but the game is quite exiting and more fun than thought it would be and I hope through time I will become good at it.

Anyway, to my Question.

I have Trainz 2004 installed and have tried to download and install additional senarios, but I don't know the proceedure for installing, I have used the download helper for downloading. It appears more involved than that of other games, but how to install I don't know.

Could you please help.

Mabe the program called trainz optionz will help
google trainz optionz download and install it
The proble we have mostly is that some things that we need are not downloaded
Trainz optionz can show you what is missing and download it (hopefully) also.
maybe you would like this one, noone has complained about missing stuff so hopefully you will like it

Hi Bill Welcome to the world of Trainz
The download helper automatically installs items into the game the only snag here is faulty items or missing dependencies the best bet here to correct these problems is Trainz Objectz a free utility from tafweb http://www.tafweb-trainz.co.uk/
The only other snag is items not available from the DLS this can be a pain but usually sort-able by posting a request for information here on the forum
If your preference is UK routes with an old-fashioned flavour may I suggest any one of my routes listed below all come complete from the DLS and the packs all contain a printable descriptive map to simplify navigation.

hi,

A few questions come to mind.

1) Are you running TRS2004 build 23xx version 2.4?

2) Some items from the DLS requires PaintShed as a dependency. Have you downloaded it, installed it, created an item with it, and have saved it?

3) As trackplate mentioned above. Have you checked for missing dependencies with a program called TrainzObjectz?

Thanks for your speedy reply, I am totaly impressed by how quick you responded to my request for help,.

I have one other request for help at the moment regarding the download helper,

When I try to download I keep getting the message that it can't contact the the download station when searching for dependances.

Once more could you please help

Are you behind a firewall and have allowed TDH to connect?

Have you entered your username and password under TDH's configuration screen? (C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\Bin\TrainzHelper.exe)

I have checked my firewall & TDH has access

My users name and password is ok

I changed the settings to the path of TRS it was set to the Demo 2004 which I have now taken of my hard drive.

But TDH still does not connect to the download station

Any other ideas as to this problem

Hi Bill.

well done on chinging the path, that would have deen a curly one.

If you buy a first class ticket you will get faster downloads and better access to the files on the DLS.
I was once a FCT holder but now I'm just a normal passanger
Asking for it to download something more than once will help maybe.
Also run the file in the BIN folder that alowes you to ender your username and password and the one that alows you to redifine your path.
Unsure of the file names but they have an exe extinsion
You say that only some of the dependiencies are missing. If this is the case Trainz Optionz will help
