Downloaded Routes

I saw two routes on the DLS this morning I thought might be interesting. After downloading, both opened in Surveyor without baseboards - just track and objects floating in the sky. I don't understand... these routes are completely unusable as downloaded, why are they even there? Do they work on some systems but not others? Are we to somehow copy/paste them into an existing route? I've even tried to add baseboards to routes like these, to no avail. Does anyone know what is up with this? (The routes I downloaded this morning are "ni city" and "Riverview").

It's no big deal, I mean, free is free. Just curious if I'm missing something here.

Happy New Year to all!

Hi Vic,

There are a couple of things that come to mind when I read this. First what version of TS12 are you running? The routes may have been created for the latest, with HF4, and you are running the older release. The other possibility is these routes were created by someone using the iPad or Android so they're not compatible at all.

Please post the route name and KUID so we can take a look.

Regards and happy new year too.

John

Usual reason is it's been made for a build higher than you have, sounds like you might still be 3.5? Those are 3.6 routes

I think the main problem might be, that N3v pandered to the brainless who thought they could run
a sim like Trainz on a 2 bit wannabe over egotistical mobile phone.

N3v are trying to make money out of people who are too tight to buy a proper computer, to run 'Computer' games & think
that their mobile phones are so good, that they can do the same job.
They are now finding out that an "I Pad" is not an "Operating System" that has computing power to match a 'Desktop'. :hehe:

Old saying, "You get what you pay for", in the terms of 'I pad' etc, this equates to "You paid more than it's bloody worth" :p

1 I read needs some dlc off steam, Riverview has a few v2's by different authors so you may need 1 of those to complete it. Who knows.

As Blackwatch says the routes are almost certainly created on the I-Pad or similar and because somebody in their infinite wisdom gave these routes the same build number as TS12, ie 3.6, TS12 will see it as a valid file in CM but cannot do much with it in Surveyor or Driver.

Wow, thanks for all the quick responses. Right, I have not upgraded - it works fine as is. Routes available on the DLS that were authored on SP1 + hot fixes come up red, and I can't even download them - Oh well. These I mentioned were supposedly compatible with my build. Maybe I'll go get an Ipad. NOT! :-)

Best,
Vicmaninoff

You can go to build 3.6 version 49922 without problems. Above that there are the odd pitfalls as you will have read.

Hi Vic --

I've had similar experiences to you.

I suggest you might like to try "Inglenook" or "Trinity Bay".

They are for TS12 with or without the Service Patch.

All the required dependencies are either built-in or from the Download Station.

They are fun little routes.

Hi Phil, yup, got both of those! Another board-type layout I like is "Krashnburne" - not nearly as "juvenile" as it sounds. But I prefer the prototypical routes, like UMR or "Bloomfield Pass". Or my own stuff, which I'm trying to get to the point where I can upload them...
