Downloaded Route, blank screen

I've seen this a few times, but the short version is that on some (few, by no means all) routes I've downloaded, when I open it to edit, or create a session, when I open it all the opens is "sky". No ground, seldom objects, basically nothing. Nor can I add anything.I have ensured there are no missing KUIDS, no warnings, nothing faulty etc. This was before the SP1 and after. Any ideas?

What routes?
what version of route?
Downloaded from where>
I'm taking my best shot here
When I up-date a older asset and a older route doesn't like it I get all lite blue.
When I revert the asset the route comes back.
The problem is finding that asset or assets.
I list all assets for that route and revert all assets I changed.

This is what I did when I updated Mucherson 2004 to 2012
I mistakenly updated some of his custom assets that were just showing warnings.
when I reverted all assets I updated the route showed up I still had some other issues but fixed them.

Thats the best explanation I have.
Hope this helps

This one I download from this post on the last page of the above sticky about content that is all on the DLS. Quote {
 Potash Line, kuid:3801:1001138, a 50 mile route from Potash(Moab), Utah to the Denver Mainline.

Created by Bruce Kennewell(3801), it works in TS2009.

It looks & runs great with the features of '09 & should knock the socks off any Denver & Rio Grande Western, Southern Pacific, Union Pacific railfan.

The line carries potash from the loadout, which actually loads hoppers, to wherever, you place three SD40's or their rivals or equivalent power with 40 covered hoppers & highball!

There is a siding on the Denver Main, you can run around your train & using Instant Unload, drag the mty's back to the loader at Potash, the siding is long enough to run around, couple & repeat....

I give instructions to Driver Cameron, then go do other things & let her do the work!:hehe: } I downloaded it but I cant do anything with it. Maybe its for a too early a version?

Sorry can't find link.
Please include link in next post
Did you scan "View Dependencies / View in main list"?
Did you revert any assets listed that you changed?
I'm not trying to make you jump thru hoops.
This is what I did to get old routs to show up
I have updated several versions of TRZ 2.4 Town and county.

Sorry I wasn't clear.
The link to download the layout.
I also meant, revert ANY and all assets that you changed at ANY time that are now listed in the route.

Simples - search in CM for Potash Line and you get one hit which is the required route.

I decided to download the route to see how it displayed for me.

Firstly in CM it did show an error regarding the timerate tag. I edited the route using edit in explorer and removed the tag timerate, at this point I also removed the tag thumbnail which could cause problems later if left. The remaining warnings can be left since they are just warnings.

Having committed the route I opened it in-game and it showed up as it should.

As a test I went back deleted the route, redownloaded it and this time made the changes using edit in Content Creator Plus which updated the route to build 2.9. When I opened this in-game all I saw was blue sky. I would therefore suggest that if you need to make any changes then you do them manually using Edit in Explorer. If you want to update the build number then do it by creating a new route/session in-game, this will ensure that all the route files are saved correctly which possibly does not happen when using CCP.

I'm done here.

Ok I found it DL now
A little later/ right out of box/ I think its time to try my suggestions.

I initially made those changes in Content Creator PLus, without success. Deleted it, redownloaded it. Neither worked. I did not try your suggestion about using Explorer. I will next, and it seems likely it will work. Thanks in Advance! Question though, your last sentence about updating the build number, can you elaborate? I'm not sure I get what you are telling me to do...

Having got the route working in Driver/Surveyor if while in Surveyor you do a "save as" from the menu or save as new route when you exit Surveyor, a new route/session will be created with your kuid and it will be saved with a build number corresponding to your TS12 build number usually 3.6 or 3.7 depending on whether or not you have all the patches and hot fixes. The file structure and file contents will look very different to those in the route if you have used CCP to edit the route which does little more than change the build number in the config.txt file. Trainz expects the different files when it sees a latter build number which is probably why routes do not display correctly if CCP has only changed the build number without creating the updated files.

OK! Success! I re-downloaded the route. Cloned it. Went into the config.txt via explorer and made the required changes. Region, thumbnail etc, and when I went in to edit the route it came up without a hitch. Thanks ! I also saved the route and session in surveyor and the build number changed as well. This issue is solved! I was looking for a simple route that I could merge into a larger one in a mountainous region and the fit the bill perfectly. Now to get CMTM working in this area and move on...Again, Thanks.
