Download Station

CM stands for Content Manager, the place where you install new content, whether it be content from the DLS or from third-party websites.

Ok, I sort of guessed it, I run Win 7 and CM (Contact Manager) does not seem to exist? Yes download manager does and I use that all the time without problem.

The problem seems to lie with the click on link (button) in downloads (DLS?) which searches for "trainz:/install-cart" and the system cannot associate this link.
Your help is much appreciated.

Hi Everybody.
Been using Norton for last three years, has never afected anything on my system inclueding trainz. so, would not think that was the problem.

DOWNLOAD STATION - NO AGENT ON DUTY!

I am still unable to use this resource. I bought a First-Class Ticket four days. I appreciate everyone who's trying to help, but nothing is working. DLS recognizes me, I can drag an object to download it, but when I click start nothing happens. My Norton anti-virus program says the attempt was blocked. Norton phone support kept me on hold for over an hour. People I talk with on the Norton forum give me complicated directions, the last message said it's probably not a Norton problem, maybe a firewall problem -- maybe, who knows?- any ideas where to go from here? Ditch 2009 and go back to Trainz 2006? Forget the whole thing?:'( Best, Michael in Iowa

That is 95% likely to be that the firewall is not setup to allow Trainz/Content Manager access to the Internet - you will need to add the Trainz applications to the exceptions list (as I do not use Norton, I am unable to give specific directions)

Shane

I have Norton/settings/firewall I have set the following Program Allowable Exceptions rules (always allow):

Auran/TRS2006/bin/launcher
Auran/TRS2006/bin/CMP
Auran/TC/bin/launcher
Auran/TC/bin/CMP
===========================
I would imagine that TS09/10 is similar
===========================
Also Norton antivirus settings/scan exclusions:

Auran/TRS2006/local
Auran/TC/local

You don't say what was blocked. Was something flagged as a potential virus, was a connection flagged, what?

Let's assume it's the firewall itself blocking you from fully connecting you to the internet. Follow these instructions, but instead of selecting Mozilla Firefox, find TADDaemon.exe in your TS2010 directory.

You may also have to allow ContentManager.exe and Trainzutil.exe access to the internet as well.

any advice on the following message??

Am on EE 2010 - followed advice given above to reset UN and PW sonow get the following in Content Manager

'Cannot find your planet arun account, or you have not registered a valid serial number with planet arun. please check your planer arun account details are entered correctly'

have done that and all look fine????

If you have used a different password in the change password process, you must change the password used by Content Manager/Trainz (you can do this either from the Trainz Options box, or from Content Manager settings (Internet tab)

OK, this is my last attempt to get Download Station working, which I have paid for. I purchased Trainz 2009, and have used 2006 in the past, which I deleted, but saving my custom content hoping to import. Download Station worked fine in '06, with or without a First-Class Ticket.

People on the Forum have been graciously trying to help me, but it's just been at a standstill. On the main menu for Trainz 2009, nothing happens when I click "website" or "forums." I have to access those through e-mails I received. When I click on Download Station, it comes up, but when I drag an object to download and click "start," absolutely nothing happens. NOTHING!

I have spent way to much time trying to solve this problem. My internet service provider (Qwest) has determined it is not a problem with my virus protection (Norton) although it registers blocking my download attempts. It is not a firewall problem because I turn off my firewall and nothing changes.

What can I do right now? Here are the options I see:
1--someone can help me figure out what's going on--not a Norton or firewall problem; I don't know if I'm dealing with anyone from Auran for support or generous virtual railraoders trying to help;
2--I can delete Trainz 2009 and try to re-install it. I tried this once and it made no difference;
3--I can delete Trainz 2009 and re-install 2006 and hope my First-Class Ticket is still valid. The 2009 graphics are better, but I can live with 2006 if I can download what I want to use;
4--take this back to Office Depot and ask for a refund (it's obviously not their problem);
5--ask Auran to refund my First Class Ticket although it's not obvious how to contact this company in Australia -- dispute it on my credit card?
6--forget the whole thing and install Rail Simulator or Microsoft (what's left of it). I work as a nurse and I need to relax after-hours. Virtual trains is safe and fun.

Again, thanks for those who have offered suggestions. I am open to any ideas -- Best, Michael in Iowa

If you are getting messages from Norton that it is blocking the download, then that is exactly what it is doing. Turn off all of your security software completely (Norton and whatever else you have), and try again.

If you try that and get an error that does not mentions your security software (Norton or whatever else you have), then post it here and we can try to help.

Regards.

Why not turn off Norton's ENTIRELY? If it's showing it's blocking something, odds are it's blocking something. Sounds like your protection level is set to Paranoid or whatever Norton's equivalent is. And were you ever able to find the FTP download button and download something via the web version of the DLS?

Okay, everybody. After three days of trying everything I can think of, purchasing a First-Class Ticket, Download Station, as well as Forum and Website on the Launcher, are dead. DLS recognizes my name and password and the ticket. When I drag objects to download and click Start, absolutely nothing happens.

I have completely uninstalled Norton. I have turned off my firewall. I have allowed Auran as an exception to Pop-Up blocker. I have to access the Forum through the initial e-mails I received.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times. On each instillation I get the message there's a patch I can install. It takes a long time, but halfway through it aborts every time. Is that relevant? I can run the program - Surveyor, Driver etc., just can't get on-line.

We tried loading it on my wife's laptop. I can access Forum and website from the launcher, but clicking on content, it aborts.

Do I have a defective CD? Can I contact the company? Can I get a refund on my First-Class Ticket? TriSynergy.com shows no technical support.

Disappointed!!!

Did the patch really abort, as in cause an error and kick you out? The patches appear to stall part way through and they will stay that way for hours. What's really happening is that the patcher is updating assets in the background. If you abort the patching process, you usually have to uninstall and then reinstall Trainz fresh.

If the patch aborts on it's own, can you post a copy of the patcher log (copy/paste from the Patcher window is sufficient)

Also, I would look into a reinstall.

Shane

Thanks, everyone. I took the program back for a refund. Too much time, too complicated! I actually got a new computer with Windows 7. Later, maybe I'll try downloading 2009 or 2010 on the internet and my First Class Ticket will still be operable, or go back to 2006; -- or I may find another RailSim program. The forums are nice, but easily accessible tech support from whatever company is handling Tranz now would have been better. This dialogue can be terminated for now. Again, I appreciate everyone who tried to help. Best - Michael in Iowa
