Download Station

Hi everyone....

I really enjoy Trainz and have both 09' and 10'. Thing is....I'm quite confused these days. When I download something really cool, like a BNSF Dash 8, lets say, It downloads, but then it shows up in red in my content manager, or it turns out that it showed it was faulty on the download station. This tends to be somewhat frustrating and I'm beginning to wonder why I even bother to purchase a download ticket. I have a boat load of this stuff in my content manager and don't know how to get rid of it. Does anyone have any knowledge about why this happens? Thanks!

A lot of the items you download were made for previous versions of Trainz and the config files may not have the correct keywords in them OR the creator added keywords that aren't recognized in '09 or '10 OR the meshes are not of the right type and/or are missing them entirely. This makes them show up in red. If you know what the errors are, you can sometimes fix them yourself and then the red will go away.

It would be really nice if things weren't faulty, didn't contain typo errors in the config files, and didn't have missing image files...but this is Trainz Freeware...You have to learn how to fix things by opening up its file in "Edit In Explorer". Sometimes (rarely) they can't be fixed.:'(

thats the one thing i dont like about trainz.....i perfer adding content the old fashioned way...extracting files to folders...like good'ol MSTS.

HiBaller....thank you for the information. I'm not real good at all this, but I have a son-in-law close by that is, so I will enlist his help. I know he'll know exactly what your're talking about. thanks again. By the way...I noticed you reside in Beavercreek....I was born and raised in Dayton and still have a sister in Centerville...small world huh? Thanks to everyone else also for your information.

Thank you for the information. I plan on having my son-in-law help with these issues.

Hi Buzzy. I've been living here in Beavercreek now for just over 20 years. I came here from New Jersey and before that from Colorado where I retired from the Navy in 1980. You wouldn't believe how big Centerville has gotten.
