Download Station still not working and no answers

2/28/09 update still not working and no answers from Auran I went so far as to buy a hard copy of the game and activated a new ticket talked to
the helpdesk. Rechecked all settings turned off the firewall and reset the password 3 times, tryed so many threads and spent another day trying to get just 1 download no luck




I have not got the download station to work and with the download of 2009 now 2006 will not download what is going on I have tried everything. I think that Auran should be more responsible if you sell a product you should make it work and have some reliable support.

NOT WORKING FOR SOMETIME
I select my choice right click on it select download it then places it in the DLH. I also tried to drag it in the DLH and select start still nothing. I can see my selection in the Download Helper Action Panel but still nothing goes. There is a little active icon that acts like it is showing it is downloading but not. Everything is idle. You can walk away and come back in a hour and it is still trying to download but nothing is happening. Since I put on 2009 I can't download in 2006 either.

TODAY 1/11/09 INSTALLED TRAINZ CLASSICS with the hope that the download station would work I had a 105 days left on my FCT and now have 95 days. Still the download station is not working. I have deleted and reinstalled, checked the passwords and usernames also let the download run all night and still no content. If you contact Auran support help desk it takes a day and then they get all bent out of shape on you when they think you are not doing what they suggested. I have a lot invested in the program I own 2004, 2006, 2009, Trains Classic, plus several download tickets and Rail Driver. Please can someone help with this.
 
I ran into the same problem a while back. I think it has to do with the fact you need like 4gb of ram or memory or something like that. If someone could give me the right term it would be very helpfull. What type of computer are you using?

Sounds like you got the same as me buddy ! Years of work on one route , it's big but authentic as I'm ex BR it's all in there ! When I got all the other versions from 2004 upwards , no good. Before 2009 came out they asked what you wanted to see in it ! I said availability to import and extend ORIGINAL work , so you don't have to remake it all ! Just got it , imported my work and the track has gone all over the place ! Bye Bye 2009 version , but will I get refunded ? I doubt it ! If this was in a shop the Trading Standards would be informed ! That's a thought . . . see ya Steve
 
Same here...

I just checked the DS, 0920 on Sunday morning and it's working fine - and fast - which is unusual for a weekend.

Since your the only one (or, to be fair one of a very small minority of people) who is having problems with the download station, I think you need to ask yourself, is more likely to be a problem at your end or at Auran's, before you start hurling insults at them.

I presume you've done things like checking your firewall and anti-virus software and running Content Manager as an Administrator (or as an ordinary user with full rights to the Auran folders and relevant registry keys, and that you are not trying to access the DLS through any kind of restricted Proxy Server or DNS set up?
 
As I said above. I'm 95% sure it's on his end. It is his computer. It doesn't have the required amount of space for the CMP to handle there for it won't download. It will say it is but the KBs (Kilobytes per second) will show zero but it will say it is downloading.

I agree too. I wonder what his machine specifications are? That will help diagnose the problem. I just tried the DLS too before I opened my mouth with everything is fine, and it's snowing which usually kills my Comcast cable due to a bad connection on the telephone pole outside.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!
I have had the same issues since right after Christmas 2008. I started out with the downloadable 2009 WBE addition and it worked great. (As did 2006)
I had a major computer problem and had to reload everything back on.
Since that time I had received my boxed copy of 2009 and neither it nor 2006 CM or CM2 works now. I have contacted the help desk twice and got the same automated answer twice. I have been involved with Trainz since they have been around and have owned all of the copies at one time. I know how to register a serial number, log in, turn off my firewall blah blah blah and it seems that many other people have had the same problems.
It is not a computer problem, since my system is EXACTLY the same as before and I never had an issue with my firewall blocking anything.
Something is amiss with Auran since around December and I, for the life of me cannot figure it out. My computer is a DELL XPS duo core quad technology 2.6 running 4 MB of RAM and twin graphics cards. I wish I had a solution for everyone out there experiencing the same problems, but I haven't found one yet.

Good luck, if you find something that is helpful, pass it on and I will do the same....

There appears to be a problem with the DLS. I was able to download older content from two weeks ago, but there are problems with some of the latest items. This happened a few minutes ago.

Right now it's early Monday morning, and hopefully Auran can take a look at the DLS problems.

I got a brilliant PC too ,but don't have to tell everyone ! The only thing I worry about is the time wasted plus money spent adds up to a JOKE. Same system , worked for years. Technology is supposed to be better ? Then programming at fault. I'd sack my staff ! Nuff said. Go on then all the blabberjaws . . . . watch this space now fill up with know it alls that should be using the program , not texting each other on here ! If it worked they wouldn't have the time to be on here in the first place ! Go back to your MSN boys . :wave:

I was able to download a few things today, then I was "disconnected" from the download station about four times, and had to save my user name and password each time, and then I was able to download a couple more items, but it quickly grew tiresome, so I stopped trying.

That pretty much describes the past eight years associated with Auran as well!

So many pieces of content on the DLS named something like "TRlo78002T" with no screenshot (that shows in CMP anyway), 400 versions of the same 40ft. boxcar in the same livery, 200 versions of the same sound effect, electrified cantenary broken down to each individual nut and bolt, (again...with no screenshot), etc...etc...It can be maddening! It doesn't matter though because most of what you see cannot be downloaded most of the time!

Using the DLS is similar to sorting through the bargain bin at the local model train show, alot of broken stuff and an occasional jewel to be had for cheap if you can find it.

Again...content is Auran's Achilles Heel, both in the creation and the management of...:o

Of course, because it's essentially free, most do not complain!
 
Just tried

I just tried to get the top left asset, brand new on the 24th. I was downloading but slllloooowlyyyyyy. 1.65Mb would take 26 minutes!
But then the DS is always bad on a weekend so that didn't surprise me. Often I can't get it to work at all so wait for a weekday.
Maybe, once Auran come back on s'tream' after the weekend break it will pick up d/l speed?

I'm not telling everyone that i have a brilliant PC. What i have displayed are my computer specs and which version of Trainz i am using. It saves people from asking what specs i have if i do request help from the forums. My original post only stated that the DLS was working in this area. I've had download problems like this before but put it down to internet connections and tried again later in the day. As for "Go back to your MSN boys." I happen to be a 50 yr old father of 4 with better things to do than use MSN..
