Hey i'm having problems with the download helper for trainz 2004. When i click on the link to download the locomotive, it just says "retyring" over and over until it eventually said "failed". What can I to do fix this? any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

:)

Manually re-enter your username and password - don't let Window's auto-fill the blanks, manually type them in.

If that doesn't work, log out of everything Auran - forum, DLS, Planet A, the works. Give the servers a few minutes to reset and note your absence, then do the manual re-entry of u/name and p/word.

One or the other always works for me...

Hi,

Do you have the latest version of download helper as available at the bottom of the Download station home page?

If you do then try downloading something else to see if the asset you are trying to get is causing the problem. You could try something simple like a hut or small shed and see how you get on with that.

Let us know how you get on and we willl see what else we can suggest

Hi,

Unfortunately those tips were unable to get it working. :( I used to be able to download things just fine. I reinstalled the game twice and that hasn't worked either.

OK. Try this for me so that we can see if you computer is communicating with the DLS. Find somehting to download (something small and simple will do to save time) but instead of clicking 'Download (helper)' click on 'Download Page' and then click onto 'Download (ftp)', you should then get a dialogue box asking you if you want to 'Run', 'Save' or 'Cancel'. Click the option to save the file and it should download to your chosen location. Let me know how you get on with that

I followed what you said and this is what it gave me:

Contacting download site...please wait.

Either:
  • If you have just only registered your serial number, your access may not have been activated, please try again in 10 minutes.
  • The maximum number of connections to our download server has been reached.

OK. I have just gone to the DLS and can download that engine so there is certainly an issue with your connection that we need to fix. Launch Trainz and on the splash screen where you have 'Start' 'Options' 'Manage Content' etc go into 'Options'. In the furst tab (Panat Auran) delete anything that is in teh 'Username' and 'Password' boxes and then click 'OK'. The box will disappear taking you back to the splash screen. Click into 'Options' again and now carefully enter in your registered username and password into the two boxes that you emptied a moment ago. Click 'OK' then close down the Trainz splash screen with 'Quit' and go back to the DLS and try downloading again.

I don't have those options, mine read as follows:
Launch Trainz
Configure Trainz
Download Station

Etc.

You must be thinking of Trs 2009, I am running 2004.

Its been a while since I used 04 but some where there you should find boxes into which you need to enter your username and password..? What if you click the Download Station option ? or just that jus take you to the DLS ?

I am sure that the problem lies with the need to enter your username and password, especially if you have done a fresh install but I cant remember where it needs to go!! Do you have to enter it into Download Helper when you install that??

No, and actually for some reason now it takes me to the Trainz 2009 content manager. I would be playing Trainz 2009 but I lost my CD key.

If you ever registered your copy of 2009 you can get your number by clicking 'Profile' at the top left hand corner of this screen and then on 'Serial Number' under Trainz in the left hand menu

Sorry my friend but I am off to bed. Its 1am here and I have to be in work in 6 hours so its time for some 'shut eye' . I will check up on this tomorrow evening (or later today even!!!) and see if anyone else has dropped in that may have a solution.

Good luck in the meantime

Andy
