download station and downloading content

Gonarch

trainz enthusiast
I am going to place a post here which is a copy of a message I presented to the support service.

I wonder if I am the only one experiencing this or not.

I only would like to and wish to let know that when trying to download content using the content management tool (for TS12 but problem same with other versions) I receive many many errors like this one: "Unable to download. Couldn't obtain a download URL. Item cannot be found on the download station".

I search for items on the download station and yes I am able to find these items within the content manager (location download). But when I try to download I get the errors. I have to say that I am able to get approximatively twenty (20) percents of the items.

And within that twenty percents then there are many errors with missing dependencies and faulty dependencies.

I only would like to inform of this because it is very limiting.

Depends on what I am downloading. Current and updated assets designed for TRS10 and 12 generally download quickly and completely. On the other hand, previously built-in assets from earlier versions can be quite faulty. I recently downloaded a previously built-in steam locomotive (build 1.5) that had 31 missing texture text files when the CDP was opened in TRS12 plus about a dozen warnings about missing or obsolete tags. These are all fixable if you have the time to do so.

The broken content is a known issue and is in the process of being fixed. As for the "Could not obtain a download URL" messages, it would help if you could save the kuids of the assets in question and let N3V know, since that suggests an error in the DLS server database.

ok thanks for feedback... i understand things can be fixed yes alas i just dont have enough time to do... yes to me the DLS service has got to have errors and i do understand the challenges of maintaining such where people are able to some degree to freely update contents... yet for the users it is limiting as i said... i have notified the vendor via a support ticket of what i am experiencing... thanks

I have downloaded a locomotive that gave my TRS 2004 big problems. I cannot acess the settings, and instead it makes TRS 2004 suffer a "fatal error". I can't acess the surveyor as well. Please help!! ;)

Im unable to download anything on the DLS using content manager. I was able to this morning for a short time but it comes up red after attempting to download.

Download Tafwebs 'TrainzObectz' & use that to delete the faulty loco, or you could make a note of the loco's kuid number & navigate
to your 'downloads' folder & just delete the offending kuids folder.

Hello everyone. I do apologize to all if this is not the right thread where to post my questions. I tried to make several searches inside the forum and on planet aura as well but did not found any answer to what I am looking for. The fact that I am italian and there is not a big trainz community in my country does not help. Now, I'll start saying that I am new on trainz simulator, I bought the mac edition straight from the mac app store, therefore I am not able to register a valid product key on the auran site. To get access to the download station I bought then a first class ticket. What I don't understand is what is my trainz version is. 2010 or 2012? Moreover, is there any way to download new scenarios like, for instance, the london-paris eurostar route? What I mean is the complete route, something that I could download, install and play with straight forward like I play with the built-in scenarios (or sessions?) in my trainz.
That seems to be quite complicate for there are many sections such as scenery, scenarios, tracks.... and more over, so I never know if I am searching in the right place. Also, I tried to download a few items but it seems I am able to get stuff only via ftp. When I tried to access via download helper (or whatever it's called, the download cart you know?), many items get the info "invalid" and when i click on the "download all" button I get the error page from safari "safari could not access to any web address starting with trainz://" or something like that. Has anyone of you experienced this as well?
Thank to you all for support and have a very nice day!

Hi xtianfox79,

Welcome to the forums.

To answer your questions/issues in order:

1.The Mac Appstore version does not require a serial number as it will be activated simply by entering your username and password into the program.
2.The Mac version uses the TS12 game engine (apart from a few features), but is TS2010 in terms of content that it supports.
3.If you are after whole routes, I'd advise checking in the Trainz Mac forum for details about the content manager.
4.You may get the 'Invalid' message if you attempt to download TS12 routes and sessions.
5.The Download Helper/Download All links will only work in the Windows versions of Trainz.

Hi Shane, thank you very much for your extra quick response, that was terrific! Allright then, I'll try the rains mac forum (if I'll ever find it) for extra contents such as routes and scenarios. I'd have another question if you don't mind... while navigating through the options in my trainz sim, I ended up somewhere listing a lot of stuff, and amongst all this elements I found something that could be the channel tunnel. Do you know If that could be the eurotunnel I was looking for? Somewhere on the web I found infos about a native eurotunnel already included in trainz sim.... so I thought that must be the one.... but the question is: how do I play with it? In the available routes, when starting trainz, nothing close to the tunnel appears.... I also tried the surveyor option to create a new one but, no matter what I do, I always end up in the middle of a blank square and no means to load existing piece of landscape....
Thank you again for your help.
See ya

I'm guessing what you saw is Tunnel Euro, which is built-in.

When using Surveyor mode, you will always have a blank map unless you have chosen to edit an existing map.

There should be various tabs on the right-hand side of the screen for adding various objects to the map.

Sorry, nobody here will give you a serial key. If you bought it from N3V/Auran or a reputable source, it should be in your purchase history or on the back of your manual.
