David,

This means the file somehow became corrupted on the way down to your PC. What software are you downloading with? If you are using an FTP client, you need to check the box for "allow passive for firewalls". This will allow the FTP and file information to pass through inimpeded otherwise you'll end up with corrupted files.

You may also want to check the settings on your firewall its self to ensure that this is allowed there to.

My downloads using healper is 2 or 3 KB/second.

1mb takes about 10 minutes on dsl broadband.

Is this normal..?

Dowloads from most other non trainz sites
is around 45kb to 50 kb/second

definitely not!
when I was on dial-up it took about 5mins per meg, with broadband ( not a very fast connection, 512) and download helper I get 55 to 60 kb/sec.

you must have a first class ticket or you get the same speed with broadband as you did with dial-up, it's capped at Aurans end.

cheers

Thanx Roy..so to get higher than 2 to 4 kb/sec i must have a first class paid for ticket ..is this correct...?

Hi johnpro,

It has been noted that users with an FCT can download this much faster, yes.

I have given you an FCT for 3 days, to enable you to download the file much quicker.

david_wi - you yours is already active on your profile, hope this has helped you get the file faster.

Thanx Alan. Very kind gesture indeed.

I will take the opportunity to get a few layouts. The speed has picked up over 10 times.

I will eventually get a fct. thanx again.

your speed will depend on a lot of things,, the sever you are d/l from might be very busy,,,,,,, plus the net will slow slow down some times due to many users on line at once

I have to laugh because right now is the slowest speed I think anyone will see particularly up in the Northeast. Right now its Christmas/Winter Vacation for the schools and a majority of the brats (I mean kids) are online filesharing, playing online games that will suck the bandwidth out of at ARPANET, and downloading music.

Even if everyone in your neigbourhood has broadband, they are all eating up a good hunk of it so that by the time the largest hoggers use the majority of the bandwidth there's very little left for the rest of us to enjoy. You'll notice a big difference afer January 6th when the brats go back to school.

yea, that ture, but your isp should open more bandwidth when the system is very busy,, i only pay for 1 meg d/l but at night i get around 2 meg of speed, o i hated this time of year when i was on dial up,, i never could get
on line to get my mail ,,

How Long Does It Take CM2 To Recognize A FCT?

I'm running here in the Northeast US, New Joisey to be exact. I'm regularly downloading at over 200KBps yet from Auran I am only getting 3.49KBps. So... It's not the brats filesharing that is slowing things down.

I've activated my FCT and it still is not being recognized by the Content Manager after two hours. I activated by TRS2006 & TS2009 tickets - giving me 180 days of fun.

The 3.5 KBps is a killer though.

Does anyone know how long it takes for CM2 to see my FCT?

Cheers,
Wayne

Did you activate two tickets? Unless they changed the system, they run concurrently so all you get is the time on the longest ticket. FCTs must be used one at a time.

It could take quite some time before an FCT will be usable. I think there is a note about it somewhere.

Forced To Merge FCT Tickets

Hi narrowgauge,

I had FCTs for both TRS2006 & TS2009. I was forced to activate both at the same time.

I wish I could have only activated one at a time, I lost my hard drive before and used my TRS2004 FCT to rebuild my Trainz system. It would be nice to keep the TS2009 FCT around just in case I have to rebuild my machine again. I only really need it to initially download and build the TS2009 system. The rest of the months will just be wasted. Back at the onset, I was able just to use the TRS2004 FCT to create the TRS2006 system.

It's just nice to keep that extra FCT as an ace in the hole for just such emergencies. Now, if my HDD fails after June, I will be forced to buy an FCT to download all the content again. As a loyal Trainz customer, it would just be a nice thing to offer its customers.

As far as I know a FCT is an FCT. It doesn't discriminate between any version. I had a couple FCT's before and using one was downloading for 2004 and 2006 using same ticket.

I have a First Class Ticket and the CM says it is active but the download speed usually ends up at around 4kbps after a minute or so. It starts well at over 350 but for the next minute or so I sit and watch it go down and down and down until it bottoms out at 4.

What's the point of paying for a lousy connection speed that would not reach the daily (non-FCT) limit of 100meg anyway. Feeling a little ripped off at the monent.

Incidentally I haven't yet seen anything in 2009 that is that much different to 2006, except of course you need a bigger computer to run the same software. :(
